May have to run an earth lead from the sender (when it's in the jug/coffee cup) back to earth... they normally earth throught the block and don't read anything if they're just in the mug 8)

HA! HA! very funny... :(

Just dropped her off to radiator man. fingers crossed 8)

heres another question. do u think keep the filter on after profesional flush???? Ive got a sneaking feeling the top hose which connects to the filter, is restricting flow a little???

Sam,

The filters a good idea - keep it, and check regularly. If the hoses are kinked, take them off and bend up a piece of coathanger wire to the right shape. Take the coathanger wire into SuperCheap and sort through their radiator hose department until you find one that matches the wire (may have to cut the ends off the new hose to get the right length).

Cheers,
Harv

Hose diameter looks good, as long as it doesn't kink it should be OK.

I've got a couple on the roadster. I've replace two of them as they kink even easier than normal hose, especially once the spring starts rusting away. Alot softer than normal radiator hoses. I'd avoid it if you can.

thanks Devilrod.. hummmmmm that doesnt sound good. ok I'll keep away

Just spoke to my radiator guy.. gave it a good clean, but there wasnt a lot of gunk.

But as Ed mentioned, my radiator guy suggested, if the problem still exists???? installing a shroud, Plastic fan & or a external thermo fan???????

crossing my fingers n toes thats its sorted & dont have to do that. let u know tonight after i picked her up

thanks again guys.

For a bone stock grey with factory radiator you shouldnt need to do any of that. if it's still getting hot after the clean out there must be something more to it.

If it's overheating on the freeway like you said, the world's biggest thermo fan isn't going to make any difference.

thanks a million guys. I really appreciate all your comments.

Picked her up tonight. have taken her for 3, separate 15 min drive. & all the same thing... I think we r ok now.??? She hits about 190 - 195 max. & doesnt go any further. even sitting in traffic.. same. SO over wkend will be the big test. take he on the open road see how she performs.

Shes got a little flat spot. so if the temp goes above 195 on open road, think Ill -

as * Postby oldnek » others issues you may be experiencing is points could be closed a little giving slight retarded ignition timing,"

get that looked at???

but so far so good.

G'day all.

WOW???? the saga continues!

Ok just to recap!
replaced:
• Water pump
• new thermostat
• radiator recored
• professional engine flush
• radiator filter

so after all that it was still running on 195 - 200

so I shipped her off to the Mechanic (courtesy of NRMA Roadside membership - pays for it self in triples)

IMG_0304.jpg (60.56 KiB) Viewed 697 times
Mechanic noticed:
• timing was out. fix
• Did a infared reading- said temp gauge was out by a little, so new gauge installed
• the exhaust had a little leak after the manifold ( this is interesting. said that the hot air coming from the exhaust was also contributing to the increase in temp)
• So full new exhaust system ( it need 1 badly any way)

So finger crossed after all that ??? exhaust system is being installed tomorrow then the mechanic is going to check a few other thing & we'll c what happens...

jezzzz???? who would of thought... such a complicated thing???

over n out.
