You might read these two threads and ask yourself have I the skills to do this...
http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... 11&t=12179
http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... f=11&t=576
If the answer is no then can I learn these skills
If the anwser is again no, Do I have the money to complete the tasks?
It looks like a $15,000 to $20,000 resto to me
But if you finish it, and do it well, it will always be a $15,000 to $20,000 car.
Just being realistic and honest with ya.
I have a Adeliade FB and repairing cars properly in South Australia was something panelbeaters never learned to do...
Cheers and I hope it goes well for you mate..
Cheers
Wayne

Thanks for the reply wayne, I have seen these threads before, so many amazing builds and good talent on this forum... I have been reading the old timer build for the last half an hour or so, my sills and corner sections are probly on par with that, its just the middle piece of the quater panel with bad rust from the bog crack, im guessing waters been sittin in the for a long time.. the whole quater is mabye 1 to 1 and a half inch thick of bog whole way through. and the dog leg has some alloy plated above it and been slightly hit/rusted then bogged. I will put some pictures up in the next few days tho to show people what I am talking about. If worse comes to worse, I can get another shell.

When you dismantle the car buy some glad bags large and small and some white tags
And bag and tag every nut and bolt you'll be glad you did later.

when i was 16 i bought a 39 plymouth coupe,it was at the toowoomba swap before i got it
what a nice looking car, lino for floor coverings in a dark shed,16/17 yrs old
didnt have a clue ,bought it ,towed it home lifting the body off the chassis...floor stayed on chassis
got another sedan for 150 bucks rust free ,cut the whole floor out and put it in the coupe....
i then realised i was in way to deep,i sold it for $100 less than i paid, moral of the story...
do what you want ,people will tell you otherwise, mistakes are a part of life.
scrap that shell, and be patient,it will find you

Ok I have stripped back some of the bad areas to see exactly what lies behind the paint :/
Mid strip

Some more nasties on the lower

This is to kind of show how thick the filler is in about 80% of this quater panel.
The rust in the middle of the quater is right on the edge of the body line, so will be a bit of a misson to repair it, but there is alot of clean metal around it. and will put some more pictures up tomrrow, of it cleaner and the drivers side dogleg rust, which has been pop riveted with alloy sheet and bogged over with some fly screen :/

Hi Jarrod
Only just saw your thread...so a belated 'Welcome to the Forum' from me.
pop riveted with alloy sheet and bogged over with some fly screen
Crikey some Dodgey Brothers at work again. You've got a real project on your hands there.
From those pics you have just posted up is it like that on both rear quarters? How far up does the bog go? Have you checked out what is under paint on the roof?

Hi Jarod looking at those pics mate i would be looking for another shell take all the good bits of the car
for spares and treat it like a parts car for your real project
mate i reckon you would find a better car then that down at the grave yard
in SA you could fix the one you have mate but it would be a biiiigg project
and like stewart said whats the rest like under all that bog what is it going to be like
around front and rear screen where they do rust normally i would keep looking for another there still out there

Nah its only on the drivers side quater panel which the bog goes through most of it. some people do some dodgey stuff.....
And I have got rid of all the bog on the quater panel and it doesnt look so nasty now, clean metal, but its been hit around a fair bit.... Im thinking the same jay.. As all of the hang on panels are pretty much rust free? weird..
