Hi Vintageholden , the wheels are 14x8 on the back and 14x7 on the front , the tyres are just crappers at moment ,235 on the back at moment , would like to go with 265 on back when finished .
The inner sills were a lot easier and cheaper to fab this way than going back in with original inner sills , a lot stronger too and easier to weld everything else to, the outer sills will just be welded over the top onto the body and will look stock from outside.

Ratbox , looked for windows for ages that would go ,but they all just didnt look right , I know there will be people that dont think this looks right either , but was going for a sort of panel van look side on ,if that makes sense, iam happy with it so far .

This is wild
After reading the comparison to a panel van, this build reminded me of something that you would have seen in a 70's Custom Panel Van magazine.
Has your engineer outlined everything required and inspected progress on the build, and it is going to be an ICV?

My bet is definately ICV and I think you would be the same SC.

it has to be with that extent of fabrication, and modification to the base body.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not aloud to be built as an ICV. My understanding is that if the vehicle has been stamped with a number etc. it will always be that vehicle... No matter the mods carried out.

Dad has an FJ ute here which he was planning on doing as an ICV as it is/will be/was going to be 'extensively modified', but he sent in for approval and got knocked back, can't remember the exact words the DPI used, but it was basically due to the car already being registered as an FJ.

This was around two years ago and things could also be different on the east side...

We'll soon find out...

THAT'S where I saw something similar...from memory & I might be wrong here  but was'nt it a Blue HT panel van/ute?? OK who has old 'shaggin' wagon' magazines???

Scotty.

Brodie has pretty much nailed it , if the car was built as , Say an "EK" , then as long as it still looks like an EK and you can prove that it was regoed and out of the factory as an EK , then as far as transport is concerned it is an EK , the mods have all been approved by transport , only thing they knocked me back on was fitting the turbo to it , power to weight issue .

The car has to come up to all the ADR rules that relate to the car in the year that it Was built , so no big surprises there , and all the mods have to be done to the satisfaction of your engineer .

We operate on the new , National code of practice for light vehicle construction and modification in Tassie , which is supposed to going Aus wide , which is pretty well set out what can and cant be done .
Have a look at the code at http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... index.aspx.

Hey Sputzwagon , would love to see pictures of that if you can find them , have looked everywhere for something similar , when I was doing the roof but couldnt find any , there is a few crewman utes around based on wagons and some with four doors and extended chassis , but didnt want to do the extended thing .
