Got up to 90mph around the local tracks a couple of times, pretty smartly. It’s only a smelly old six you guys. If I get better than 18.5mpg driving it around like this I’ll be happy. That is what it did with the free fiddy, and 21.5mpg on long runs. Anyway it goes nicer and looks hell “tuff” with the 5/16” fuel line. Time will tell.

Meanwhile,on the bench….Image
Looks like a trip to the scrappy in the morning.

Got them on both cars now. Reusable stainless mesh that Glen put me on to. Pays for itself after 16 oil changes which is 100000 miles.

the LSD doesn't look like it's doing to much LSDing

It did leave some rubber on the other side Mick but I had to look closely. Might have to move the cruiser out the way next time, and wait until the neighbor is out, though funnily he did inspire me by asking if the new driveway was providing good traction.

The car is having a run on the chassis dyno this morning with Davor at Performance Auto and Dyno in Seaford. The tune seems to be spot on, or would be if not for a minor inlet manifold leak affecting mainly idle and slightly mid-range. It doesn’t surprise me as I was a bit slack reusing the gasket when I put it on. I have a Permatex I think? for it but wondering what is best.

He said the ignition looks to be pretty spot on. AFR is good. Not as good as SUs but not bad for a dirty old Holley. Big of richness prior to secondaries kicking in, which is normal. Good to know they are jetted about right out of the box. Just need to be thorough installing them, ha ha. Image

Less power than the ute, but appears to be way more torque. Davor says you can’t really compare manual and auto dyno readouts, and this had to be done in second gear due to kick-down.

Rule of thumb says around 100 flywheel kW whereas factory quoted 86kW for the carb 202 VK.

I measured fuel consumption at 21mpg over 170 miles of mainly highway 80-110 driving yesterday so happy days.

Following your posts Clay. Glad you’re tinkering with my old girl. We took the Panelvan out for a run today. Ended up at a winery as you do.
