Yeh nah just threw wheels on for fun and check fit. Sway bar mounts are the next job. Fuel pipe and exhaust are the pinch points. All else clears good.

Thanks Glen for getting down and dirty. I gather things are fairly tight under there. I’m going to weld the supplied angles on the inside of the rail, leaving slight clearance to fuel line.

But I skipped grovelling under car for assembling the rear brakes, a it off a head $*#@ in itself. Got it down pat after about three go’s. Another job done.

Much head-scratching. Looking at the photos of your rear axle, I'm now prepared to concede LC-J Torana.
But (1) - whoever converted it to leaf springs did a bloody good job of cutting the four-link brackets off it. I can't see any grinder marks.
But (2) - they're not Torana drums. Which makes me think that -
But (3) - you may not have Torana backing plates.

Torana axle shafts have to be shorter than EJ-HR axle shafts, because the rear track of a Torana is about 3-1/2" less than an EH. You can't do that simply by changing wheel offsets and keeping other dimensions unchanged.

There were a few dags that hadn’t been ground off, which I tidied up, and a bit of a scar from one of the inner ears being cut off the pumpkin.

I speculate that the backing plate flange to axle flange off set is constant, such that the Torana brakes could be replaced with HR, but why bother, unless you are fitting the larger rear brakes, which is not the case? Anyway it all fits up ok. Just need to adjust the wheel offset.

They are fine until the dreaded nail is poking through the top part of your foot, believe me when I tell you I know !!!!!

That's almost exactly the same position my brackets are welded on.

Foot wasn’t supposed to be in the photo Neil. That’s the one I recently dislocated one and fractured two toes on.

Rear suspension upgrade is complete and back on the ground. The rear track is now 1374mm which is 10mm less than the standard 54.5". Clearance to the inside is not as bad as first thought. With 200kg of parts in the back the sway bar mounts are at 150mm clearance but bump stops still have a way to go. I can bring the bar ends up as much as 20mm on the threads but they start to contact the shocks at top out. Still, might bring them up a tad.

Decided to strip the front end so I can sell hubs brakes etc. Best done on the car of course but with engine in the tonneau not enough weight to get the bottom arms flat enough to pull the shocks. These are brand new so I will be using them again. G clamp to the rescue again.

Leaving the steering which I already refurbished, and 25mm sway bar.
