Hey Austmod.

How do you get in......................... :? :? You forgot to put the door handles back on, or you just proving me wrong on the time frame.
By saving time not fitting them.... 8)

I wouldn't bother getting it painted, I think it looks cool just like that.

Hey all,

RB is the king! His guide on how to shave handles has made me want to customize my car to an extent I have never envisaged before 8)

As for the paint, yes it is going to be a shop job. This is due to the fact that I have run out of holidays to paint it after allot of procrastination and excessive forum browsing, and it is has been too cold. If I wanted to paint it now, I would have to wait about 3 months until my next break and that time is reserved for cruisinnnnnnn

I feel bad for people like Dr. Rosco who wrote so much on the topic of paint and advised on excellent ways to apply paint. Please do not feel that it fell on deaf ears - the HG will need paint one of these days  and if I have a yellow sub to cruise in aswell as a cool ek, I will be able to do with only 2 old holdens on the road while one is off for some new clothes

I think that I need some lower profile tyres on the back, it just doesn't look right to me... What do you fellas think? I think it has 60s on the back and 55s on the front, so I would like to go 55s on the rear aswell. Opinions? Also, can someone suggest a car alarm that is good? I need one for the now unlockable fb

I figured, before I did the shaving, I could get in without keys in about 3 minutes, so a crook could do it in 3 seconds  With a loud alarm and immobilser though, things could be even better than before :D

Hey Andrew

I think the tyre combo looks good - the rims you have give the car a bit of a "street machine" kinda look. The bigger tyres I think have a good affect on the car.

It also seems to fill the wheel well a bit better then the front adding to that street machine look.

But - if you are going for the cool close to hell cruiser and dont want the car to look hell tuff id go the 55's so it can get a tiny bit lower 8)

btw - are they bang on weights on the rim?
if you get the tyres re-done tell them to put some sticky weights on so the bang on's dont damage the rim when they are being put on.

It also looks better as they are un-noticable

J,
I was mighty pissed when I saw the bang on weights

Before I got these new front tyres on I had stick ons and they sure did look better. I can only hope that they haven't damaged the rims with the stupid bang ons  :x

I'd go back to the tyre joint and ask them why in hell didn't they static balance them (weights on the inside of the rim) with stick on weights. Are they still stuck in the 70's with there tyre fitting technique? Even my shitty old steelies are static balanced....

Other than that progressing very nicely, I 'd leave the tyre s alone it looks good. Nicely balanced. Should look really tuff painted.

explain to the tyre joint how pissed you are and u have mates who are tyre fitters who NEVER put bang on's on a new set of rims (unless they r steelies with hubcaps)

if you tell them this and it has scratched the rim then demand they they get the rim repaired - if someone came into my work and was pissed off at a scratch my boss wouldnt hesitate to offer to get it repaired.

SunnyTim wrote:Wow - that's a bit full on.....they're just wheel weights and they'll get run into a gutter sometime anyway won't they?
Mmm not really, if I paid good money for rims the last thing I'd want on them is those style of weights, let alone the thought of hitting a kerb.

I won't be hitting any kerbs  :x

The worst that has happened so far is that my mum got my car stuck on a kerb as it was too low with the drop spindles and lowered springs

Tim
my boss always told me to do stickons even if there was a lip - for that very reason :P

and what u just mentioned works - had a guy with an austin healy watch our every move and take his own wheels off because he was afraid we were gonna scratch them.
