You are onto it MPH - I will have a look tonight and see if I have just painted up the wrong one - That's the problem with having so much shite lying around, could be as simple as this !!!

If my memory serves me correctly, the red motor engine mounts differ left to right.... don't ask me which one is the smaller - but they are different.
On one side, the plate sits in front of the rubber mount centre... and the other side, it sits behind.... I know I had issues with these and that was why my engine wouldn't line up when we first fitted it... it was angled off to one side.

Finally got the engine mounts sorted - by building new ones

after MPH pointed out the 2 different mounts I went looking and found 3 different mounts in my stash - and none of them were right so I made another.
Motor set up where I need it to be
Mounts made painted and installed and started to get some bits fitted.
Also got the quarter panel glued on

Now it has a gap between the bootlid and the quarter - the bootlid used to overlap it

The pulley drive and bracket set up looks very tidy blacky.
Pretty extreme way to re-gap the boot lid. Are you going to do the other side, you know, just for the hell of it? Snicker, snicker.

It’s been that long I can’t remember
There is a plate welded to the existing part of the hinge mate.

Too many beers in Qld and not enough in your shed building the rattler, its doesnt appear in the pic to have weld marks on it and a nice curvature like its pressed from one piece?
(Im just wanting to sort hinges and a booster with front and rear separate brake lines when my hr front goes in).

Looking at that pic Clint, it is welded to the original bracket, they dont sit QUITE far anough back , and the front bolthole to gas strut mount is the limiting factor. Thinking while looking at it now it may be best to move the mounting pin for the strut forward, will probably create new dramas though, maybe they can go inboard ............ food for thought.

If you look in my post, LS1EK you will see how I did my VE bonnet hinges. Basically you weld on a new mounting plate to pick up the holes in the bonnet.
