Also another project on the list last week i removed glove box and stereo to measure up a aircon unit. Looks like it will be a vintage air mini going in. Waiting back on a email about the controler and ducting supplied with their kit.Image Image

Absolutely, I made two of the steel stereo glove box recesses , makes easy to copy when they are out of the car. might need to make a new one when the ac takes place of the glove box anyways.

I was chatting to a guy about a hr aircon setup and he ran the ac pipes out near the dash drain and under the fender then down to the compressor to illuminate ac and heater pipes off the firewall ,might look at that route when I get it.

Not to sure of the internal diameter up bush atm will have to measure next break mate. And come to ekmart for the front when the stars next align

I put a ducted vintage air kit in the father inlaws 57 over Christmas, kit designed specifically for the car it was a nice fit. The full complete kit he bought in the US was only around $1500 , Aus gets major ripped with aircon pricing and parts. The darn chev only just fitted inImageImageImage

A bit of FYI
57 chev and fb share the exact same glove box lock but the clamp is longer.

Difference in water jackets between red and blue motor.
Red block ,blue head you can see the two blocking screws in the red block. Blue head gasket on the red block.
The two gaskets red on left blue on the right, the different water jackets are on the left sides of the gaskets .

A little off-topic perhaps (apologies), but for those interested in the differences between red and blue cylinder heads, some great, picture-heavy info is here:

Some seem cheaper to buy from the US than here.

Also share handbrake handle, internal door handles and window winders and earlier Chevs have the wiring standoff for the headlight wiring.

Anyone know about radios , was told its out of a FB directly ,then after fitment issue had a pic sent from the fb its from and they had cut about 9mm of the dash out along where the buttons go and ovaled out the knob holes.
The dash holes are perfect when the stereos up side down but out of alignment when its the normal way.
I don't want to cut the dash to suit is as when you look at the surround there is a air gap along the top amd looks mud.
Maybe from another holden.

FB-EK radios are a bit unusual as they have one of the rear corners cut off for clearance which makes them easier to spot

I’ve got a diamond dot one I got from Thommo, non push button for commercial and standard, and yes it is a perfect fit. I don’t remember the corner cut off but that doesn’t mean much these days...........
