Does anyone have any ideas?????? Have we missed something simple??
Thanks..
Is your guage/sender correct?
Bigger thermo(s) and a shroud or fit a metal fan, if the car keeps cool when driving then your thermo isn't shifting enough air through the radiator when stood still.
How big is the radiator? Is it new? It might be partially blocked.
Is your thermostat working properly and the right temp?
How's the water pump? is it a good brand? it might be cavitating.

Almost forgot, the car looks great :D

this thing is a work of art mate. I would be happy with your daily car but that other one..... Damn!!

As for overheating, This may sound dumb, but have you checked all your earths in the engine bay? I had a panelvan and it was forever overheating. I checked timing, new radiator, everything and it turned out the earth lead to the body wasnt connecting properly.

Gl with it anyway

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions everyone..
I dont think we replaced the water pump when we did the engine a few years back.. hmmm... I cant remember.... could be an idea..
I think first port of call will be making sure the radiator is flowing properly and the water jackets are 100% clear. Another thermo wouldnt be a bad idea though hey... Will let you know how I go... The radiator is from a Torana from memory. Fully reconditioned but it has been sitting there for a while....

I thought I would throw in couple of piccies of what Paul brought home one day as couple of years ago.

Then he says "What do ya reckon Dad, can we put this lot together?"

Where the bloody hell do I start!!!!

Hey Dad, I gotta go do something, let me know how you go! (even the dog is out of here)

Well you all know the rest of the story. Woody (Paul's Dad)

Love the Beast - re the overheating, if everything else checks ok, I had the same same problem with triple SU's, and a custom cut heat shield completely fixed the same problem you have. Those carbs were not designed to have an exhaust manifold sitting 2" from the fuel bowls, fixed my "when your driving it's ok, but once you stop it starts to cook, and misses and farts for a short time when you take off afterwards"

Another bit of info to add to the pile...........

Not at all, I did provide some effort, but Paul was the brains and design authority for the build. Some of the ideas he came up with were out there for my liking but you must agree the final product will certainly turn heads.

Here is a couple more pics of the early process.
