One litre of colour has done all this. Three coats at 2 to 3. Extra coats with added thinners to use up excess and try and get a gloss. The tops are wetter because I painted from bottom to top, so they got less overspray.

Neil I could have been more thorough in skimming the big panels. There are a few 10c size indents here and there. And I’m going as fast as life permits. Garden, house, work, family, surfing, all are suffering due to my obsession. But the end is in sight. I want it on the road soon.

Mixed up another 200mm of colour and gave the tailgate another three coats.Image

Hey mate if you are like me and it sounds like you are  you will always find things that you think you could have done better, the thing is that we are the only ones that see these little imperfections
When I was finishing my FC I keep saying to my wife that this and that was not right and I didn't think it would pass etc, she told me just what I'd said above, I took it for inspection and it flew through.
So my point is mate your Ute looks fantastic, you have done a great job, get it back together mate and enjoy.

Ran in to a snag fitting the passenger door. I managed to bugger the bottom threaded captive plate so it ain't really captive no more. Doh doh banging head. I am gluing it roughly in place with contact just so I can get threads started. Then I will deal with the issue of un-gluing and adjusting it.Image

I did the same thing on one of the wagon lower tailgate catches. Took FOREVER to get a nut back into place with fishing line, and the bolt started. The fishing line is still hanging out of the trim. I figured I'd have to adjust the tailgate once it was on the road, and had visions of me dropping that nut down the panel crevice... hopefully the fishing line reminds me to go easy.

Cheers,
