Well things have been a lot quieter in the garage lately…

….that’s because all the welding and grinding is finished, finito, the end, done, complete, closed, terminated…you get the picture! Wooohoooo!

From June to September…

After the rear quarters the next bit was the drip rails which we weren’t looking forward to but in the end turned out to be very straightforward.

First I carefully drilled out the sport welds for the channel piece or whatever you want to call it as we wanted to re-use this section.


Then attacked all the rusty bits


to get it all nice n clean


Luis then welded in a donor section that I got from Greg (EK283). More grinding I guess...


Channel piece or whatever you want to call it is spotted back in...




Good as new

then over to the other side...are we having fun yet?

ITS SMEAGAIN Looking good you must be nearly on top of the rust

then first weekend of September Old Timer was rolled out for a final look over and fix up of any bits we missed and to check for pin holes...









...after 2 years and 9 months... the rust repairs are finished!!! what an unbelievable feeling!

too right Jeff and Shme the rust was always going to be the make or break of this rebuild...we made it.

actually I think the neighbours are just as excited as me - no more endless hours of listening to the whine of a grinder

What a great job you guys have done, looks like the hardest part is finished .
