Talking to my mate today, this car passed rego inspection at Regency Park recently.No indicators, no papers, rough as. Running a hot grey but otherwise original.

Maybe I’m over thinking rego on the ute.

Wow I’m having a good read of this thread and that fact that this got rego has blown me away.
I hold hope for my old wagon to achieve the same goal!

You seriously had me confused at about page 80, I was thinking Clay must have sold the Ute to this Errol bloke!
Anyways all in all it has given me some good insight into what I have got myself in for over the next couple of years.

Glad you’re enjoying it Drew. It does run on a bit. Errol was what we called my first EK. Still got a few months to go putting back together, paint front hanging panels and sort the mechanical and electrical. Too cold for painting at Willunga now, though did get to 19 the other day.

There are plenty of great old build threads to read on here. Good inspiration, helped me untold. Not to mention advice and help.

Bit of Woodville in the car. Green and yellow were the colours of Woodville SANFL club. Go the peckers. Got a bottle from local Caltex and it's green. Yellow in clutch is Castrol.

Adjusted the camber to maximum which is about -1.1deg right and -1.4 deg left. Manual says 0 to 2 positive wtf for crossplys I suppose. Left caster as is which looks about right set back for highway. This was with stands under the bottom outer pivots so we shall see. Will change when car gets lowered in any case. Grease gun coming out.

Clay what is the go with the 2 different colour brake fluids?
Does one stipulate DOT3 and the other DOT4?

I'm about to disclose some secret knowledge on setting up king-pin front suspensions:

(i) too much caster is not enough.
(ii) you need to turn both your eccentrics half a turn each, in the direction of adding caster, so that the outer pivot bolt is at the top of the circle. As you rotate the eccentric, the outer end of the upper control arm will lift and come to a maximum before dropping again. (NB: you have to do the adjustment with the suspension off the rebound stop to see this effect.) Set the eccentric so that the camber's correct with the pivot bolt closest to the top of its range.

Setting the front suspension up this way raises the front suspension's roll centre: both body roll and understeer reduce noticeably. I discovered this effect a couple of years ago when I wondered why my FC handled much better than my Humpy. I'd set the FC's front suspension up with the pivot bolts high on the eccentrics, and the Humpy with the pivot bolts low on the eccentrics. It was half an hour's work to turn the Humpy's eccentrics three flats (checking that I hadn't messed up the toe-in), and it was much less tippy-over on corners.

(And in NSW, if you took the ute to be blue-slipped, you would earn a "bounce" for the condition of the grease seals. Maybe the authorities in SA are less pernickety.)

Thanks for the tip Rob. I get it, equivalent to lowering top inner pivot.

I agree about increasing (negative?) caster but does make parking and three point turns more of an effort.

We don't have all the red tape blue slip bizzo you Nuveaucastrians do. I will replace the seals when I lower it, unless I end up with a HR front end. Depends how they react to the red motor.

The colour difference is probably in the additives (corrosion inhibitor, anti-foam, anti-oxidant), which differ from company-to-company. The basic components (polyglycols and polyethers) are normally clear.

Raff and I put in a seat and accidentally did a bit of a skid and bunny hop up the driveway. Not hard to do in our driveway specially in an empty ute with bob Jane all rounders. But hell fun by the way.

Some dificulty selecting reverse. Control lever not lifting high enough.
Serious leakage rear main seal. Considering options but something has to be done.
Otherwise brakes clutch and first and reverse seem good. The gear shift is ultra positive thanks to new bushes in the levers, novel experience for me as I’m used to sloppy.
