Right after I bleed the brakes and clutch and put tail shaft on John. Got radiator in and bled.

Milk crate test runs are good fun... but somewhat scary. Don’t ask me how I know. At least you can’t fall off them backwards in a ute.

Driven down and looked at the surf twice today with out going out. If I hadn’t done that then would probably be there by now.

Just a scary story, Old mate decided to take his recently restored falcon for a spin, steering wheel pops off and he crashes into a house. No one injured but the woman living there goes into shock and looses her baby. You can guess the outcome. Be very careful.

In NSW you are allowed to drive the car unregistered to the nearest inspection station but its just so risky, no insurance of any kind !!!

Sorry fun police gone, Leaps and bounds Clay ! That thing will be up and running soon, well done.

I had an "interesting" discussion with the Fun Police for the wagon. The engineer and various workshops were remote from me, and I wasn't sure if I could drive it to them or not. $500 each way for a tilt-tray, and my car trailer has been loaned to Dad.

The RMS website gives some guidance:

You can drive an unregistered vehicle in NSW for the purpose of obtaining registration via the most direct or convenient route:

To the nearest convenient registry or service centre
To the nearest convenient Authorised Inspection Station to determine whether the vehicle complies with the applicable vehicle standards
In the course of inspecting or testing the vehicle to determine if it complies with the applicable vehicle standards
To the nearest practicable weighbridge to determine the weight of the vehicle
From a registry or service centre, or authorised inspection station, where registration of the vehicle has been refused, to the nearest convenient place where necessary repairs can be made, or where the vehicle can be garaged, unless a direction has been issued that the vehicle must not be driven until repairs have been made
From an Authorised Inspection Station to the nearest convenient place where necessary repairs or adjustments can be made, or where the vehicle can be garaged
To the nearest convenient office of a licensed insurer for the purpose of obtaining CTP insurance
To the nearest convenient location for any other purpose directly associated with the registration process.

The Fun Police were happy that I was complying with the stuff in yellow, provided I could prove that was what I was doing at the time. Before I went to the engineer, I sent him an email telling him what I was doing. Called the 'zorst shop and booked the car in, took notes on the phone call.

I was worried about insurance, so contacted both my insurer and the RMS. Apparantly the "CTP" part of the above (third-party personal damage) is covered by the RMS. I was not covered for third-party property or damage to the wagon, so took out comprehensive insurance (the insurer was happy to do that, even though the wagon was not registered).

I can get a day permit in SA and it ain’t that dear. I need to look at insurance though and will definitely do so before entering a public road. At this stage I am only looking at the convenience of being able to drive on and off a car trailer to get to the trimmer. As to the zoster we shall see but so far pretty happy with my bodgyed up system, as current manifolding is temporary.

Learnt something or so I thought. Bleeding the clutch with the door off is possible single handedly. Nowe I've enlisted Rafferty.
