I take my lead from Rob Ardiesse take a look at his "Found Object" on the FE FC Forum I have nowhere near his skills but figure the process helps to keep me sane only just.
I'm going to finish off the front floor repairs, I've ordered a new floor hump and then move to the back and outer sills.
Old mate Keith, who has done a lot of work for various member of our club, he painted Frank amongst other things, just turned 80 and he recons he is going to give the business away but he is going to help me do the firewall and roof on the wagon and probably paint it, he still has a couple of other jobs on the go at the moment but I want to try to get the wagon to him in the next couple of months because he will probably have it for 3 or 4 months.
That will give me time to freshen up the engine I have for it and I'm thinking of trying to overhaul a 4L60 (V6 TH700R4) gearbox as well, haven't done a box before so should be fun

Does anybody dislike spot welds as much as I do unfortunately I think I still have lots more to deal with.
Removed the driver side outer sill just as bad as the passenger side but at least the inner is intact.

Not bad. Yeah fuching bastards. Not as bad if you are sacrificing one of the panels. I cut and twist off the sacrificial panel, then grind the remaining weld.

I have a spot weld drill that I only use if I am re using the panel underneath. It's useless, even when new it requires so much force. If it's the panel underneath that I am replacing I will just drill the weld out. Thinking of getting an air hammer and spot weld chisel when I do the sill on mine - anyone used one of these successfully?

Scott, I have used an air chisel with a flat blade extensively in my builds to seperate spotwelded panels. Very fast and pain free. One panel/side is sacrificial though unless you drill the spotwelds first and then it is pretty tidy splitting the two panels. Cheap Ryobi job from bunnings.

I use a German brand spot weld drill that is relatively easy (picture in Wilma build from memory). Cuts through tendons too.

Think my dill bit is a sutton - came in a two pack, so that pretty much sums up their faith in it.

This is what I use. You can sharpen them again with a file. Powerline brand 8mm.
