Your screaming along Gazza - good work.

In that last photo, how long would you have soaked those bits in citric for?

Cheers,

John

Hi John

I soak them over night, you have to keep an eye on them best to start in the morning until you get used to it

Cheers

Pedal box finished today, waiting on my gold plated DD to Torana uni so I got to work on the engine. Building this one same as my hotrod, get it running then strip paint and reassemble

Headers, dizzy, carb and water pump all fitted, bit of trimming to get the VL radiator to fit.

Need to get it up on the hoist and Finnish chassis and cross member

Looking good Gaz.
I have had a similiar issue with the SBC I am putting in the guys FC Sedan for him, it was really close to the water pump pulley so had to notch the subchassis and lower radiator support to get it a but further forward.

Your engine seems to be sitting nice and low what sort of engine mounts are on the cross member mate the one this guy has in the FC seems to be a CRS one and the mounts are too high for my liking, I think the HEI dizzy and wiper motor are going to be an issue for me to overcome.

Neil

Looks good. I bet there are a lot of VL owners who which their top radiator tanks sat that high  .

I used the VL radiator in my EK wagon. Had to lift it up whole radiator about 5mm to get that lower hose to clear the front subframe. Notched the top radiator support bar to bring the radiator forward, but still cant' fit a mechanical fan. Used two 10" Davies Craig electric fans in push mode. Had to notch the bonnet catch to get them up (they were too low on the radiator, and were cooling mainly the trans fluid part of the radiator).

Cheers,
Harv

Yes Harv I bout this one years ago after you sent me a pick of your engine bay
My Sedan runs the same radiator and has a notched upper support it runs a 16” Thermo

Can you remember what lower hose you used I used an XT falcon on my hotrod

Cheers

Cheers mate crossmember is CRS but I used a set of mounts I had for my Coupe

The HEI looks tight but the wiper motor will clear
It’s the same set up in my Sedan, can even remove the dizzy but I have to remove the cap first

I’m still thinking of using a cable system like I have for my hotrod

Cheers Gazza

&*#@ Econovan 1984-1991/Mazda E2200 2.2L diesel top hose. Big one end for the SBC water pump, small the other end for the VL radiator bottom pipe.

Harv
