That is a great job! Colour is awesome!
How have you done the trim around the rear wheel arches? Did you make a timber box section and cover that?

:smile2: do you mean the side pieces or the actual wheel arch
wheel arches are just covered with material and the side pieces are made from thin MDF board
then covered in the Grey material :smile2:

I was given the idea the other day to make a box section with a cup holder in them, so when we go to the drive in, lying in the back you got somewhere for a drink to not get knocked over

Sorry Jay, but I should have pulled you up earlier.
I don't think you're allowed to paint a grey motor, red.

You must be breaking some law I'm sure.....
Even if it does look great.....

I've just been back and reread your entire post.
Two questions came up.
You seem to have painted the car in sections at a time, did you find there was any over spray problems.
And secondly why did the doors not have holes for the side stainless trim.

Hi finny :smile2:
some of the doors had the holes filled in by the previous owners
and some of the strips were half stuck on half with clips
front passenger door had clips on but had started to rust out the door
so had to repair holes then redrill them all good fun though

no drama's with over spray at all just mask up stuff that you dont want extra paint on
and painting the car in pieces and at different times is fine if you buy all your paint
at once so its all the same colour and mix it well before painting each panel :smile2:
