Using the old sedan boot seal here. Will probably re use front door seals as well. They are nicely bedded in.Image

Ute and I are banished from the shed until the fumes are gone. I figure it takes four hours for it tok go off. Mozzies seem to like it.Image

Rivnut gun is reasonable quality and does the job well with the M5 tubes at least. It goes from M5 to M12 is one of the reasons I got this one and was about $56 delivered. Will do the remote booster mounting and steering box brace as well although I cringe a bit at having to use metric shit on the old girl.

Me too. I couldn't find an imperial nutsert/rivnut gun in Australia, and the cost of importing one from the US turned me off completely. I've got a similar two-handle gun to yours. Go easy when squeezing them in... if you are heavy-handed like me, you can crush the snot out of the nutsert.

Yeah I noted your comment on force earlier Harv and/or gledge schooled me as well. Not over keen on having the slightly raised boss but hey it is minimal and necessary. Flush mount system would require crimping the panel by supporting from underneath. Not an option in this case. My other bugbear is the posts I got are functional but a bit sharper profile to the original lift a dot. They are “super spot”, a knock off. I think maybe washer and loctite or nylock underneath for the accessible ones as fjw suggests. Off to direct fasteners. But maybe should run the buff over first. I’m still letting the paint harden. Two weeks tomorrow I think.
