Ow reel funny guys.
Good to hear you are still with us Trevor with the amount of rain I have heard you have been getting I thought you might be out in the Indian ocean somewhere by now, man 400mm in a day.
I'm not going to tell Chopped the colour (it's a secrect) but I did tell Blacky and he's sworn to secrecy
Errol top seatbelt mount position worked out really well I got some of the plates from seatsafe on ebay they are 50 x 75 and fit in the space really nice with the 75 long side right up against the double thichness of the B pillar, there was some foam in there that I had to take out before I put them in and just drilled a couple of extra holes and plug welded them in position.
The roof is not pretty, I know, it was like that when I bought the body, must have had an impact and they tried to knock it back out but just made a mess but Keith the body guy says he can fix it up, I had got hold of another roof just in case but he says it will be fine
Anybody need a roof

Finishing up all the bits and pieces I'm going to be doing before it goes for panel and paint.
Because I'm using a VT steering column with wiper controls, blinkers and ignition all up on the column I decided to delete the positions on the dash; I never got the knobs and ignition when I bought the body anyway.
I was going to use one of the small gauge holes cut into the dash for the headlight switch but I'm thinking I will adapt the old ignition switch position.
Progress so far

I know not everybody will be happy with what I am doing but it was just a bare shell when I bought it with not even a scrap of wiring in it.
Regards
Neil

Mate the horse had bolted when you decided to drop that bent motor in it. Nice work. Just make sure you paint it black behind the grille and don’t put HQ mirrors or hubcaps on it!!

Bloody modders

well at least paint the dash pad matte black then?? When I got the sedan repainted way back young blonde I gave a ride was doing an XYGT replica. He said wow where’d you get your dash done thinking it was vinyl. Not too smart those xygt replicators.

looking good mate - will be a cool ride for sure
For the seatbelts you can mount the tail end you have on the floor on the same bolt hole as the spring reel - just has a standoff rather than have holes in the floor to allow rust to creep in
And for the sun visor would you be better off welding the nuts in place on the roof rather than nutcerts? then a bit of Silastic on the bolts when installing?

Hi Wal
Mate the nutserts I used on the roof where ones the learned Mr Black suggested they are rubber and just slip into the hole but when you do the bolt or screw up it squashes the rubber up sealing the hole works really well and is nice and firm.

Gidday Neil, nice bit of welding on the dash there, mate.
What size nutserts did you use? I see they start from about 3mm thread. My FB visor attachments look a bit dodgy and I thought I’d have to make new gaskets, but the nutserts looks like they’ll fix that issue. Do the brackets pull up pretty flush with the roof and A pillar, or is there a bit of a gap?
Cheers,
John

Hi John Mate I used 6mm to make sure I had a decent hold on it and yes they pull up pretty close to the A pillar you can get nutserts that have thick and thin flange or face area so if you used the thin ones it would pull it even closer.
The ones on the roof as I explained are rubber so they act as their own gasket and yes get pretty close to the roof I think the photo shows it.
Errol sorry mate but dash is going to be body colour as well
