Thanks to everyone for their offers and kind words 8) 8) 8) 8)

Well the 13's will be alright for this summer, but then ill have to get new tyres. So im thinking of going 14's. What im looking at doing will be grafting 13" centres onto a 14" rim and running the original hubcaps, maybe a thin band white wall. Dad had it done with his pursuit wheels, 15"-16". It doesnt cost a great deal either. Its just something different and it should look pretty cool. Probably go 6" front and a 7" wide rear...

Edna, its all good :) In W.A P platers aren't restricted in what they drive..

Thanks Blacky, we need to give ya that fuel tank so once its rego'd dad and i will have to bring it up to yours to give ya the tank and let ya have a gander.

J, i'll get it as low as i can lol. As far as the visor goes, im not really a fan of the mesh ones.. i'd quite happily run a solid one though.

RB, common sense is not very common

Thanks Nath, Well dad and i gotta go to yours one day to check out your tank set up.. So we can bring it to you if you want? Unless you wanna check out our other projects.. Up to you mate :)

No worries Steve, i'll get that done within the next few days.

Yeah still interested POPS, i'll probably get dad to give you a buzz sometime this week.

I've gutted the inside now. Theres pinholes in the floor but i didnt expect it to be perfect being the original floors. Other than that theres a section between the loud pedal and the bottom of the a-pillar area that'll need cutting out but its only 2-3 square inches.

Dad has also started on the seatbelts 8)

I'll get some pics up soon..

beaut first car mate! it looks too good to cut up for a lexus v8 or whatever it is. go with the lowering and a nice set of wheels. i've just got 13" chromies on mine and i reckon they look fantastic without ruining the original look, but thats just my opinion.
i know you'll have lots of fun with it (except for driving in 40 degree heat-christ that window sill gets hot when you go to rest your arm on it! )

Hi,

First of all, no pics cos after my sister had been using the camera, it just stopped working. It was the fairies apparently.. bastards :x

Alright here we go, im planning on keeping the car for a long long time. So while its gutted, im gonna get the floor pan soda blasted. Just to be sure nothing's missed. No need to replace any pans tho, i'll just knock up some little sections where needed.

I've replaced the left rear and centre bumper sections cos they were pitted. And both over riders which were long gone.

Put a kit through the 'strongbird' and played around with the timing a bit, did a comp test which come up pretty good. etc etc :)

Got a question. With sunvisors, some times you see they've got them two bracket thingo's that go back up onto the roof and some dont. Whats the difference? I'm looking for a visor and already have the holes drilled, both on the roof and on the a pillar, so i'd like to use them all up :D

Oh yeah, nothings been confirmed yet but by the sounds of it, i've got my hands on another drive line.

Until next time...

it didnt happen if u dnt have pics to prove it!

With the visor, I believe they come with the two brackets up the back standard. The ones you see without may have been modified to sit lower or whatever.

Speaking to Andrew tonight, he is missing a few bolts out of those brackets and they are rattling a bit at speed i think? So im guessing the more holes the better!

..as far as I know, Brodie.. all 'Coolaride' sunvisors have two roof brackets on 'em(for FB/EK'S)...maybe the ones without are another brand or the owners opted not to put them on..(although I'd think they'de rattle like anything without brackets..and most probably rip off at speed!! ).

"Sunny Tim" is the Holden accessory genius...he'd know..

i had one on the van that didn't have centre brackets don't know if it was an original FB/EK visor i got it off a wagon, at the time i asked the question and was told there are other brands
but what i found was as sputz said it used to vibrate at speed which chewed out the screw holes, also you got to remember this was the V8 van so there were some quite high speeds involved   and as i live in the country 90% of my driving is on open roads at 100+kph which also may have had an effect, no dramas once i changed to the coolaride visor with the centre brackets

by the way the visor i just fitted on my current doesn't have coolaride on the side stainless bit :? it's identical though

SORRY RESTORERS :(

I just bought myself a complete new driveline...

Basics are a 186, 5 speed and borg warner.

Started pulling her apart   :) :D

Found a bloke that wanted all original running gear for an FE of his. I wanted a modified driveline (his FE's) so we made a complete swap.

Should have his old gear next week-ish.
186, standard apart from extractors. 5 speed box. I think VN :? borg warner, shortened, discs, probly open centre not sure yet. HR front end. 14" HQ steelies with thin whites (also bought some baby moons).

Pretty much swaping everything but steering box/coulumn.
From radiator to exhaust tip

Coming out of an FE everything but the gearbox crossmember will bolt straight in...

Also getting the leafs reset 2" lower next week. Im getting 1.5" blocks with the swap too, after rego i'll throw them in aswell. So i'll be 3.5" lower 8)

If it is a borg warner 5spd, Im interested to see what clutch operating set-up he used.
I'm hoping to adapt a slave cylinder to retain the original clutch master.
He may have adapted the commy cable to the clutch pedal though.

Nice swap, old stocker for a red and 5spd 8)
You gotta love those restorers

Cheers
