Finally got around to taking a couple of photos of the ex-grey EK in all her bare metal glory,
suprisingly good body with only a few rust spots:
driver's door, passenger rear door, sills, wheel arches had a few dents and bit of rust. floors aren't too bad.
Really fun driving it like this seeing people staring thinking 'what the?!'
She'll most likely be resprayed back to original colors soon

Yep, those wheels are being kept for the turquoise EK, might splash out for whitewalls if i can afford it. No offence to anyone but i'm a bit over painted steelies and mags, and i'm already lucky enough to have these

:D hopefully the hot wheels interest might plant the car seed in some kids' heads and deter them from bloody zim cars!

When I first saw the naked EK in the driveway I thought what the F.........

Then, once I was hit with the Jimmy logic, it all made sense (sort of?). He figured out he would sidestep the biggest hurdle of a repaint (ie the prep back to metal) by doing it in idle time so once the acrylic starts flying we are one big step closer to getting it all done in double quick time.

It's up for a pink slip in a month - anyone know if there are rules regarding bare metal cars? Figure it's a plus as you can't hide the rust which is pretty minimal anyway so it will all get fixed. I'm with you Scotty - it's pretty straight too, and will get all it's trim re-instated.

I reckon it would look great in bright steel with clear over it

Oh yeah and the chromies are the ducks nuts !!! Loved chromies ever since I had my first set on my HR van.

Cheers

Dave Mac :D

Bit like bare metal cars eh Jimmy

Good solid body, now get some paint on it before it starts rusting!!!!! We don't have So-cal type weather here...

you don't even have to clear it just keep it coated in WD40, nice lesson for those that have a habit of leaning on people's cars aswell

 WD40 doesn't last long though, i keep coating it in wax. a bit more prep at paint time, but im already a step ahead. I'm just scared to death that someone might scratch it

Great to check it out in person at real fine stuff yesterday, looks awesome. Though one of the old guys from my brothers club just didnt get it at all, for the life of him he couldnt comprehend why someone would leave their car in bare metal   I like it

 i don't know why either, just a bit of fun i suppose. Didn't rust even with the weather which was a plus. So many people telling me i should clear over it 8) gotta restore her and sell her on though, need funds for the turquoise one :(
Great show i reckon
