haha yeah i was suprised to read the kw out put of them was 109 verse a 308 at 119 .. wow

i wondering since i have injectors working spark .. not 100 % about the timing but i sure it close enough for to run maybe spark is too weak ?
there just not much else left .

the ecu is doing it bit adding fuel .. replaced the block sensors
only items are the air box and that other fresh air bye pass but wouldnt have thought it would stop it from running ..
have a spare ecu on the way just incase, but i need to get i back on road soon for a wedding so my even clean up the clapped out 173 and toss that in if everything else fails this week ..

ps is ther ea difference in coils as im running the one that was on 186

When I put the elec dizzy on my 186 I was told to get the coil off the same engine, so that might be the problem, Trev 8) .

just not sure if maybe efi a little more fussy about em ..

I think a electronic dizzy needs a HT coil.
I got one from scorcher in melbourne, have run that one on my grey electronic and the 186 electronic as well with no probs.
Might be an idea to get one, do it right the first time and save the tears.

we were talking about VK stuff on the weekend the guy said the dizzy is basically empty with a sensor that goes into the bellhousing so there could be something in the dizzy, DON'T use a points coil with a electronic dizzy i melted one (shop sold me the wrong one  ) and have heard of them exploding

not sure on the power figures :? i've driven VK inj motors and cars with 308's it's chalk and cheese definately run smoother than carby :)

Yer I went through that and you can get the same signal from other sources so you don't need the bellhousing sensor, thank the maker. Just some more wires to run.

only the black carby dizzy is empty the pick up is on the back of the trans runs off the converter the efi runs the same electronic dizzy as the blue motors

i had a prob with mine and it was the dizzy it would spark when turnig the motor over testing it somthing to do with the comp holding a bit of power enough to give it a zap when cranked over but not enough to keep it running
changed the dizzy and it was all good again
the box on the side of the dizzys have a habit of just failing somtimes they tell me??it had me farked 4 days i had fuel and spark i thought what else could it be but that was the problem it just died in traffic one night

Well im pleased to report she was a goer today ..
finally took it for a spin this arvo .. still lols to do .
make room for air box means moving break booster :( or adding a different filter .. extractor gasket leaks, just cant get in the to tighten last bolts .. wouldnt mind making a little more room as manifold still a little close to fire wall ..

so the problem Was ,, drum roll

2 fold .. changes coil and dizzy no difference ..
remove injector rail and fueled it up to find 1 & 2 injectors not firing, now this took me a while to work out would test leads with meter and test light all good, ? ran spare injector lead and the fired ? the end result was that the test light had spread the contacts so the didnt make the circuit .. but worked fine when tested with light and meter . hell easy fix ..

2nd problem i think was because it was only getting fuel in 4 cyclinders and i still had a few vacuum hoses off made it un runnable at low rev's

any way shes all running for now .. a little ruff eratic idle some what noisy with out a air filter . she goes well if u can stand the noise and pinging under full power .. :-) ..

so thanks again to all that suggested idea i sure do have a good understanding of the efi now :) ..

ooh one last thing that air bypass that rruns air around throtal body when way is up .. ?

Yeah, the 5lt at that time was a bit underpowered. I always thought it was closer to 126kw.

It got worse when they switched to unleaded in '86.
