Might have been covered before but i cant find it...... anyway...... what is the benifit of fitting the torana front end over a hr one??
Still looking at options for my wagon and see a few people have gone for the torana front. Is it worth all the work??
Cheers

I think from memory what Gary said is it sits lower and gives you rack and better brakes.

A HR crossmember can be raised up into the car by
fitting EK/FB chassis mounts to the crossmember.
Take a look at the EK/FB ones, they sit flat on the crossmember.
Then look at th HR ones, they are about 60mm higher.
The forward facing tongue will have to be reshaped,
The tops of the shockers will poke into the engine bay,
But it can be done.
Cheers

Hi Iam thinking of putting the torana frontend in the ek can you please tell me what stubs and discs did you use , if the torana stubs and discs are retained is the width the same as the ek frontend , I havent got a frontend yet so I havent done any messurements , what do you think , is the torana front end better than the hr or about the same , thankyou regards Peter.

My van had an LH front end with HQ stubs and disks and extended upper control arms to compensate for the difference in king pin inclination but I've changed it to UC f/e with stubtech dropped spindles and standard height V8 springs with HQ disks. The UC f/e has better geometry, direct mount rack and lighter steering afaik. mine already had the LH front fitted but it looks like a fair bit more work than fitting a HR front but it handles better than an FJ ute I had with a HR front and Hadfield rack. the FJ had a terrible turning circle but really light steering.
