bought it for 5 k when i was 17 worked it till i was 18 and went and got my licence  and gave up on it around 20 and a half for my first plastic cab atkinson,, and 350 hp ,,, finally no more going in to first gear when i saw i hill in the distance

Hi Rob - how's the cooling system issue - we've lost the original concept of this thread........ but the author hasn't responded.......

Karsten, Jag - I was warned many, man y years back - yes, lovely ride....... save your coupons for parts...... bloke with a V12 spent over a thousand on a rotor button and distributor cap ...... not for me.......
Then found out he could bring both in from the states for around three fifty.

Rob, typing - it's still in this box...... just waiting for me to press the right buttons in sequence......

Tim, my father swore by Vanguards - then bought a '59 Merc - Karsten - the front stub axle sheared (with caravan on back) and he only thought he had a puncture - sister made the remark (there's a wheel running into the bush over there) two weeks in Merimbula in 1964 waiting for parts from Sydney - I caught some great Flathead at aged 9.........

Then he bought the FB wagon - kept that until after repairing it (tree stepped out in front of him) and from there - the long line of Toyotas ....... think he always wanted to get back into Vanguards - he loved them.......

My Standard "8" was from the same builder - great little car - and had an unusual way of holding the valves down in their covers - larger off-centre hole then across to the smaller centre one......very clever...

There you go Rob, there's some typing to tide you over for a short while......

Bex, did you get the gist of an oil bath filter?

Rosco
