I couldn't own such a low mileage car as I'd devalue the sucker by driving it waaaay too much. Temptation would be too high...

Well its been 13 years since I purchased the FB 215.
Last time I drove it was on my wedding day/night in July 2006, and its been in storage ever since.
Marriage and family got in the way.
Odometer reads 14,370 Miles.

I now have it at home and getting it ready for the Nationals.
Got some new tyres for it as the original Dunlops are starting to crack and not hold air for too long.
Fitted a new water pump, thermostat and radiator hoses. Original bellows thermostat still working but wont risk it.
Gave the radiator tanks a coat of paint.
Flushed the engine block. Couldn't believe how clean the water jackets are. No crusty rusty growth in the block.
Drained the fuel and primed it with fresh fuel.
Primed the old grey with oil before starting it and it fired up on half choke second kick.
Brake and clutch hydraulics are good, I'll just flush the fluid as the cylinders are stainless steel sleeved.
Getting are new muffler and tail pipe later this week and hopefully it should be good to go after a wash.

I'll post some photos on the FB/EK Face Book site as I'm not too computer savvy to do it here.

So good to see it's still in good hands and about to re-appear. Nice little time capsule.

Thanks for asking as I haven't been on for a while.

I wasn't expecting any trophies, as I thought there were more interesting and better looking FB and EK's than mine.
My FB Standard got voted Best Original Interior and 1st Place Original FB.
I was told a few of the Eastern States guys were crawling all over it with their eyes popped out.
I let some people sit in it and take photos when it wasn't raining.
A Lady knew the previous owner (dec) and I gave her permission to pass on my details to his Son who later rang and gave me more info on the FB.

The Nationals was a great event. My Wife and 3 Daughters enjoyed themselves and we met some really nice people.
It was a real effort getting it ready for the Nationals between medical appointments and Family, but got there in the end.

I've only put another 130 miles on the odometer, showing 14500 miles now.
I've had major surgery and recovering well after having a social call from cancer for the last 2 years. Basically dodged a bullet and gonna live to breath many more years.
I've been on sick leave for a month now and will take another month of sick leave then some annual leave as I need to build my strength up again.
Then I'm gonna drive the FB as much as I can.
The lead up to the Nationals really got me motivated again and once I make a full recovery I'll be attending to my FC utes and 1950 215 (FX) Sedan.

Gee I digressed there for a bit.
Anyway, this speed bump in the road has taught me a valuable lesson that has been mentioned by others who have also fought some of life's various challenges.
Be kind to one another, enjoy what you have and live life peacefully to breath another day.

From what I’ve heard and seen Seb, the car is well deserving of accolade. Fantastic news in the health department
