Yep.
Hit the road mid-morning, leaving Willunga between some pretty decent showers. Wipers are working as well as FB EK wipers can, with Pete Mallaby's BA &*#@ motor conversion and new arms and blades from Mal Lowen. I got my stylish FB washers squirting nicely, though in typical FB form over function manner, they shoot either side of the screen, missing it alltogether. I think I have discovered why they were moved to the bonnet in EK.
Car was going nicely for the first 60km, then stalled on down shift and stopped at traffic lights on the Port Wakefield Road at Virginia. Pulled over for a quick inspection and noticed the fuel pump bowl was half full of air. Yes, it was the top half that was full of air. Seemed to sort itself out when I gave it a rev, so I pressed on to my lunch stop at Snowtown Perrys Roadhouse.
After lunch, I pulled out one of the plugs:
and very glad I didnt go any further. Running more than a tad lean!
So I fished out my spare pump, filter, and hose. Pulled the pump off. Filter was fine, but I replaced it anyway. I soon spotted the cause:
I needn't have taken the pump off, but oh well.
Replaced the hoses, clamps and filter with all new and all is good. After a fuel stop at the Tin Man outside Pt Pirie, I trundled on through Port Augusta, then 80kmh, low beam in the dark to the Tandoori Guru at Whyalla.
Mmm, chefs prawn curry, rice and Kingfisher lager.
