Thanks Briby. I looked these up. Depending on speed, pressure and size, they can use from 25 to 90 amps. What are your one's specs? Cheers, bbriby wrote: Fri Jun 24, 2022 11:40 am Update photos9.jpgHi Brett, this is mine tucked away in the corner of the boot, keeps mine cool, small enough to mount nearly anywhere. A bit Xy these days but keeps the engine bay a bit tidier.

V belts in general aren't manufactured to run an idler on there back, with all the hassles i had with mine, eventually finding the pulleys to put a 4 rib set up on, i came to realise that wrap is just as important as tension.
Sorry Brett no amp reading but guesstimate around 65A running @ 4,000rpm.
Cheers

That's the one. I chatted to him at Toowoomba. Nice EK225 he has with air-conditioning on the grey as I recall.

Where did you end up finding the 4 rib set up. Was it for a 6cyl mate ? My v belt is on its way out and loosing ribs after running backwards I presume, it is rolling 180° back wards ovee the idler but looking to move the idler alot closers to the ac and so the back side of the belt only just touches the idler pulley or if anyone knows if someone makes a serpentine belt set up for a red motor 6briby wrote:V belts in general aren't manufactured to run an idler on there back, with all the hassles i had with mine, eventually finding the pulleys to put a 4 rib set up on, i came to realise that wrap is just as important as tension.

Re: Air con compressor on red 6
Sorry Clint, VN V8, using crank pulley off a VS 2 to VT1 i think, & a billet water pump pulley machined up locally, only runs water pump & 170amp alternator.
The less arc on the back of the belt the better, good luck.

Aye there's the rub. 170A alt will tax power when called upon. What size did Brett use on the 202 I wonder. Seems to me the way to go with all the under floor space in the commercials. Bonus being the more weigh transferred rearward the better witha lazy hunk of iron up front.

Re: Air con compressor on red 6
Anyone looking for a brand new Sandon compressor a bit cheaper than normal drop me a line. Got some mounting brackets as well. Also a balancer bolt on drive pulley. A few hoses left over as well. Could bring to Echuca if not in a hurry.
P.S. I used 140amp alternator on 186. Flat chat on full setting the compressor chews 70, that leaves 70 for the radio. The setting I'm using is 40amps and it seems to be working well in ute. Sedan would probably require the 70amps setting.

Thanks Brett. The sandon unit, is that the electric compressor? If so I would be interested.
