Set the engine so that no. 5 is at the firing instant, though.

No 5 at firing ok I think I understand what you mean

Line up the timing mark with No. 1 firing, then turn the engine over another 120 crankshaft degrees.

Or if the plugs are out, stick your finger in the no. 5 hole, and turn the engine over until you feel compression.
