I think the crank is there because the battery got sucked in to no 1 Webber when Glen blipped the throttle John. Seriously though love the full race theme Glen. Bet she goes mate.

mate can you tell us more about the brake upgrade ? Interested in the Landcruiser front conversion, are they Ebay calipers ? What are you using for a master cylinder and booster ? Engineer approved or are you winging it ?
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Iv just been winging it mate .. I started with original Toyota callipers an milled then back to make it all fit central on the Hg V8 slotted rotors but then found that they needed a few new pistons that were worth more than a new pair of evil bay callipers, so got them and put them in the mill the master cylinder is off a rodeo with no booster.. I had it set up the first time with the same master cylinder but hilux callipers on hr discs with hr drums on the rear and that worked fine. The hilux callipers are 4 Piston as well but there is one big and one small on each side and the land cruiser ones have 4 large pistons.. and this time it has vs hsv callipers and T2 dba slotted discs on the rear with a 3.7 Kaaz 2way lsd 78 series Borg Warner diff and currie axles.. I haven’t driven it yet with this set up as the motor is a couple of weeks away from being on the engine dyno but it feels like it has a bit lighter pedal with a bit more travel than before! I am getting quite anxious to drive it now!! And see how it all feels, I am pretty confident that it’s is all matched up pretty good this timeooh and I also put a adjustable proportion vale on the back this time for fine tuning but I’m pretty sure it will run wide open to compensate for the 245/45/17 shoes on the back ... time will tell if I’m correct.

I got knocked back for rego on a V6 EK because I had no booster even though the bloody thing stopped like a racecar  does that M/Cyl have a 1" bore ? I am running a Borgy diff with drums off a VK Conformadore converted to HQ pattern so was going to use the Commode bore diameter
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

It’s stupid isn’t it the idea of the booster is to decrease the pedal effort but if you get the hydraulic ratio right then you don’t need one but the powers to be say that you need one then you need one(I will let the engineer argue that one)I’m not sure what size bore it has actually but I think it is a bit smaller that 1” I hunted for the smallest bore size I could find but never actually measured it. I’m not real concerned about the rego side if it at this stage,I will work it out with the lane change and brake test with the engineer when I get to that stage I’m just hoping that I can get it passed with the radical 202 in there, might have to try muffle the Webber’s somehow...

No, no, no.... please don't  . The induction roar out of Webers is the best bit about them 8) . Tell the rego guy all early Holdens sound like that. :shh:

A mates EK runs 680 plus horses and unboosted brakes. The engineer said they wouldn't work but he stuck to his guns and passed the brake test with flying colors. Changed the engineers mindset on boosted brakes that's for sure.

Sometimes they need to experience it first hand instead of relying on what they may have read.....

Dead right mate the last car I did the engineer loved the brakes because you had to use some force on the pedal to lock it up... unlike most modern cars where you can lock up all four with very little effort and locked up brakes = out of control car

I just found some pics of the diff jig I made up to do the borg Warner conversion and the notches that I had to put in the rail for the calliper bolt clearance ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Tidy work indeed. Looks like fairly heavy gauge used on the notch sections.
