It will Tim, funny but I'm really not that sentimental about it. Probably because I knew it was a bogfest from the start and it was only a matter of time before this happened.SunnyTim wrote:Make sure she gets a proper burial Trev......So nice she got that last big run with the fam and hope you had a quiet last drive by yourself
(Anyone reading this, it's the main body that's rusted not the doors or guards )

I simply hate losing one of our dear old girls - especially one well known and enjoyed by me for many years.
My old bus's inaugral Nats at Nowra was cordially attended by this dear old girl on her debut - resplendant in its new livery, interior and style..
She will be sadly missed.
RIP, Black Magic...
Hoping someone might look to bringing her back to life - or morphing most of her into another..

It will help keep others on the road, including my wagon.

Really sad that the ek is going to "heaven" but happy that it is donating it's "organs".
Just loved that car and especially the u-beaut grille you made up for it .... Was an awesome looking car that you "did your way"...

Thanks Leslie, I did enjoy adding and then taking away my own touches, wasn't scared to change things around (even if it didn't please most).igor wrote:Really sad that the ek is going to "heaven" but happy that it is donating it's "organs".

Getting shot done!
The guards are fantastic, not 1 repair and no rust.

Trev, mate! - we see prized catches that people fully restore in worse shape than Black Magic... are you sure?
I can hear the dulcit tones of the death march being played continuously in your garage... it is indeed a very sad look to be watching this.
I believe we may be providing some much needed support during your troubled time in this process - we are here to share your pain.. please continue to post during the service.. have you considered permitting attendees within this sad thread to post eulogies?
As mentioned, Black Magic was a favorite of mine - and we have many pleasant memories of the dear old lady throughout our club membership years.
Stunning were the bright green wheels with Bodecia domes... and who could forget that wonderful purple 2K finish?
And, in her final retirement run - that stunning JPS black/gold livery... all that was missing was the JPS logo across the bonnet and doors and an outlined number... so brilliantly effected in contrast to the purple people eater predecessor..
And that great personal devotion of hand painting to get "just" the right effect... brilliant, Trev - just brilliant - again, another well acknowledged contrast... you are surely a master when it comes to applying the perfect touch!
Your commitment to nationals - the initiation testing that you sailed through with flying colors at Nowra - at the welcome dinner...
The "borrowed" piece of fencing wire (did you finally take it back) and that miraculous side of the road head gasket replacement.
Not many are aware of these wonderful displays of determination.
I'm almost certain that Robin would have some pix of Black Magic in close company with the International FB wagon - even though he may have had to park next to you to get them.. and not vice-versa...
I'm almost certain we could find a pic or two in his collection where this wonderful exhibit would be clearly seen in the reflection of the bonnet mounted Darwin stubbie.......
Sad, Trev - very sad....dum, dum, da-dum... we should all wear a "black" armlet above the elbow during this very sad disassembly.
I'm sure Sam will be attempting to ease your grief during this very heavy period in your motoring life, but pay her a little relief as well - she too, yes - Sam would be feeling very low as well...
I'm here to comfort you if you need to talk... hang in there, Trev - Black Magic will live on in many successors who will benefit from donations.. I do hope such fortunate vehicles bear some noted thankful respect in appreciation..
frats,
Rosco

Re: Death of an EK standard
Just a tip for those putting one of these cars together, to make it easy to dismantle don't put all the bolts in . I could have sworn I used more bolts when building it.

Re: Death of an EK standard
At work I generally state "I pity the poor bastard that has to pull this apart again"................................................weeks/months later guess who that bastard is..............
Re: Death of an EK standard
Yep, totally with you Craig.... I "do" things so that I'll remember how well I did them way back when....
Often - way back when can be anything from 30 years - to five minutes.... the shorter "when's" tend to be those immediately after using adhesives or paints... grrrrr
Trev - so, the nuts and bolts in those jam tins you found were not empty after putting Black Magic together - have been re-acquainted with their siblings....?

Rosco
