 i wouldnt part with any money steve
untill you saw the finished product
and you were very very happy with it
for 7500 you would not want to find any
hint of a dent and you should be able to
use it as a mirror ;if its being painted in
acryilic make sure it get's buffed by hand
and not machine buffed last thing you want
is them shitty swirl marks all over it . :)

Jay I appreciate your tips. I will be chatting with the painter after reading the posts here.

The hand buff was something I had forgotten. Thanks

Sounds very reasonable to me. I'd expect to pay anywhere from $7500 to $10000. Sounds steep I know, but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.....

My FC had a very minor repair and full respray (2 tone, 2 pak) around 13 years ago and it cost $5000, show finish. Last time I saw it was 3 years after I sold it and the paint was still perfect.

Basically Steve check out the guys work, if he lets you in to the workshop regularly to see how its going and YOUR happy with his end result go for it.

ready to spray ; i guess i get spoilt
doing all the repairs and paint myself

Here are the pics from today! Paint straight of the gun. Maybe I should leave it without a cut & Buff, it looks authentic just the way it is. What do you think?

Steve,
Looks the goods.
Today's prices of paint do sound like a rip off but you have to remember the paint shops need to cover everything from wages , building costs, booth costs, paint, insurances and believe it or not storage costs.
$7500 is not that bad for a full bare metal acrylic job considering the amount of work we all know these old girls require.I even payed $2000.00 just to remove the old paint and I know a good quality 2 pac paint can cost up to $2000.00 for 4 litres!
This is why the price of all old cars is going through thre roof and the sad part is that we the generation that loved and grew up with them remember the costs of the good old days! Damn hard to let go I know.
Preparation is the labour intensive part, laying the paint is only 10% of the work, so guys if you dont have to do it yourself and you can afford it then go for it!
Regards Greg
