Don't know why as I'm not a restorer, its got a red 6, floor shift trimatic, HR. front & discs and its painted lilac pearl so not at all precious about being original, but I couldn't bring myself to put the blade to it. Something just wouldn't let me do it.

few more back and forth emails with RetroSound, re details etc...ordered. I'll take pics of install when it arrives. We'll see how it goes.
Just checking your post.
Has it arrived?

More importantly how did it go ???? :? :?

It has been installed. Works a treat. Looks great. Looks period correct and a big variety of knob styles available.
Has bluetooth so music streams straight from most current phones and you get hands free phone calls through your stereo. Has 2 input jacks and 2 USB inputs so you can stream music directly from any USB thumb drive etc. 5 ch pre amp output with independent subwoofer control. The display colour can be set to whatever colour you like..., gees I'm sounding like an add...

I will post up pic later this evening.

One of the knobs was a bit dud out the box but a replacement is in the mail having advised the manufacturer I was having an issue with it. The Aussie distributor was most helpful but the knob t hey sent me had the incorrect connection. I explained the situation and the correct one is on its way ex USA. Sweet.

And you didn't have to cut anything ? :D :D :D

The price for these is pretty high, and you found the quality of the output is good ? :? :?:

Here you Finny. Looks sweet eh? i got the chrome face with chrome buttons and ordered the 57 chev knobs. the knobs are not plastic either, they are chrome plated die cast and feel nice and solid.

The only thing I cut was my old DIY aluminium blanking off plate which i turned into a new fascia. and gave it a bit of a polish.
if you do want to buy one of these you will need to make your own fascia as nothing available with the dial offset to suit FB EK
best to use a length of 50mm aluminium flat bar and cut your own holes to suit (you can get a 2ft length from local red and green hardware store for about $15)....i did file about 1mm off the top edge of the rectangular radio dash opening....i dont consider that as cutting holes. :vecctor:

the nice thing about these radios is the knobs are totally seperate from the radio unit so you can put 'em anywhere within cable length (and you can get cable extension piece as they use a 4 core telephone cable with the little acrylic plugs to plug in), theoretically you could stick the knobs in the boot if you really wanted to. :ughh:

oh yeah, the audio sound is good.
i have it connected to 2 off 4 inch 2 way alpines in the original dash hole just for the time being but have since built custom kick panels to take 6" splits and have a 10" + 2 off 8" subs in the back seat board + 4 inch splits in the parcel shelf, on 2 amps one for the subs and one for the 6" and 4" splits. all yet to be hooked up.
I did a full boot trim while i was at it. :vecctor:

Nice will check out. I was thinking of just polishing up a larger piece of aluminium flat but not sure how to mount.

Thanks

Hi Cocko, been a while since I've visited this place...

The knobs are separate to the head unit. The head unit only needs acouple mm filed out of the original hole to fit and the knobs fit in original holes. There are dozens of knobs to choose from and if you buy contact them, you can buy it cheaper without the facia as you'll be making yr own.

I had a few issues with one of the knobs and the after sales service was awesome, there was some confusion from their end re which unit I had so they sent a pair of each they had.

Sorry for the delay in my reply, prob telling you how to suck eggs as you prob have it all sorted by now.
