It was a great wrecker, sorry to hear it's gone to Sims, those guys should be shot, like Lee Kernagan when he did those drum muster adds, but instead of drums, most of the stuff that was collected was old cars, not drums! Here's a few more photos. Like an oasis in the distance...

The shed was full of all the good stuff, but most of it was 30's and 40's the "new" stuff was out in the padock.

All the best on tracking down the FB - she is certainly a head turner. Have always loved that '92 Nats pic - it must have taken some organising to get everyone organised with the parking.

I'd love to see more pics if you can dig out the negs.

Yeh It would be at least 15 years since Burglar Byrnes passed away and all the cars got crushed. In 82 the day I got my L's I drove my cousins customline out there. He was a great old guy. A young bloke I work with runs cattle on the hill now. I remenber the FB at Mckinnon Holden too, it was a nice car. Was sold to the Gold Coast or Brisbane late 80's Dave

I was doing a search for paint codes for a 62 Belair (Aussie 4 door). The codes were 585-0243 and TOP 585-0246 and I remembered that they looked like EK codes to me so I googled them and found this website and Steve Jackson's paint decoder. I didn't know that there was an FB/EK website, but I found the info and sure enough the codes were Parisian Lilac and Snowcrest White. The Chev is getting a repaint in non-standard colours, but I was still interested in it's original colours.

While surfing this website, I wondered if the current owner of my old FB was a member, so I dug out a bunch of old photos and posted a few scans. I've discussed it's disapearance with Steve in the past, but I thought the broader FB/EK community might know.

As far as coming back from the "dark side", it's actually the opposite, because I only got into FB/EK's because I couldn't afford a Chevy in the mid 80's. My first old car was actually a 58 Cadillac, which I had for a few years and started doing up, but it had too much rust for my ability to repair and parts were too hard to find, so I wanted a more common Chevy. However, at the time I had the Caddy, one of the house mates I was living with had a grey and white EK, so I was sort of diverted from Chevy's and Caddies and got into FB's and EK's because they were cheap and plentiful, (there were still heaps in wrecking yards) and accessories were fun to search for.

This means that I've actually gone back to where I started from by owning a yank tank. I missed out on a 62 4 door pillarless Belair in 86, but finally got my SS Sports Coupe 25 years later.

I hope you manage to track it down. I've got a couple of FK's on my wish-list that I keep tabs on just in-case they come up for sale.

One thing I forgot to mention is that it doesn't really matter to me, I'm GM through and through. My Grandfather was a GM and Holden dealer in NZ since before WWII until he retired in 1978. There's a photo of me as a baby at my parent's, sitting on the bonnet of a brand new HR with a big grin on my fat face. I spent a lot of time talking cars with him and it was always GM products, mostly 50's and 60's, but I've owned 70's products and even a 1981 WB Statie. I might own other cars and I've bought new Toyotas and a Honda as everyday shopping trolleys for my wife, but my hobby cars have always been and will always be GM. Who knows, I might get another FB/EK one day, but they're not for sale on the side of the road like they used to be...

I'm not in the market for another old car, the Impala might get jealous, I'm just happy that it still lives. Pity it obviously doesn't get out much.
