the return of the fb from olden holden in welshpool is nearing. it will come back with hr disk brake front end, new floors and a new gearbox crossmember as the last one had the box sitting too low and the handbrake cable rubbed on the tailshaft. our plan is to take it to be licensed, and then drive it right back tot he workshop to have a shortened diff put in and get the new wheels on it. the reason for the shortened diff is my new mags are 15x7 and foul the guards at the back the 15x6 fronts fit well. i want to get this car as low as possible, so will tell the old fellas at the workshop to drop it as low as the can:) if anyone had any tips or advice please post it up as i love the kustom work of members here, and believe you all to be an excellent source of info. thanks for the positive feedback up to date

Good news Andrew, so how low did you get the old girl with those wheels?
Unfortunatly I think putting wide rims on stops you from lowering the car as much as you would like to!

just out of interest, on the drivers side infront of the radiator support, is that a tranny oil cooler ? if so is there a hole behind it for air flow ?

yes it is, and no there isnt.... have thought about moving it, but it has a gap behind it for flow, so cant be bothered, havent had any probs with overheating so far
The Trans cooler is not doing its job there where it is located.
1stly it is mounted to high for air flow (the EK bonnet closes well below where it is situated.
2ndly there is no cooling from the fan at idle for good temp control for the trans.
3rdly, You will never know if the transmission is overheating untill its to late.
If the air transcooler has been used in conjunction with the radiator transcooler, then the above is not so bad as there is no benifit of having one anyway as the radiator cooler works very well in controling trans temps.
I would suggest to locate the cooler in a different spot for it to be efficient and if you do not have a radiator cooler, see if you can source a radiator with this provision. You'll be suprised as how hot the Auto Trans gets and at idle shes pumping through some pretty hot fluids.
Possible locations for cooler mount:
Behind the grill mounted in front of the radiator at the bottom.
Behind the front bar Under the gravel tray mounted at a 30 to 45 degree angle.
thanks john, i will move the cooler. iam a pretty avid computer modder, and run a watercooled computer, so i have access to 12v high flow fans. i think i will leave the cooler in a similar position, but with a 108cfm fan behind it controlled by a switch/ ignition. would this help? thanks andrew
