From memory, original tyres were 605 +/- 5mm outside diameter....
As well as clearance issues with wide 15" rims n tyres, you may want to consider the effect they may have on your overall gearing.
Also, fitting wheels with a considerably larger OD will raise the car (you can calculate by how much). If you want a low look, you may then have to lower the car even further to compensate for the bigger tyres... then you may end up with not enough suspension travel
So there's a few issues to be considered in reaching the best compromise for you and your car.
Good luck with it, and please post some pics when you fit the new wheels n tyres!

Well after much stuffing around I finally have my 15 inch steelies on the car (and a billet axle  )
15 x 7
Tyres are 205/50/15

I did have brand new blue flappers but unfortunately one was damaged during the process so I got the shits and had them all removed. I will probably put white ones on. Not sure.

I'm also unsure what to do with caps. I've got some 57 dodge lancers. Or might go bullets, or maybe even hub caps and trim rings - they've got a 14" HT centre so I guess those sort of caps are easy to find?? Any advice there is appreciated.

This one below is with the blue flappers: bit hard to see

Using my phone to upload pics for the first time, sorry if pic quality isn't so good

I'd go white flappers and the same caps/trim as Trev's wagon.

I don't know how good bullets would look with such a deep dish

If it were my car I'd piss those rims off altogether and put stockies back on it, with standard hubcaps and dress trims   8)

Ha! Peter you old restorer you!! :D

Good point with the bullets, although I could just get Spun Hutty to do up some custom longer ones. Might still look a bit off though.
Trev's look like baby moons to me??

I will probably just run with what I've got (57 caps) for the time being and look into some flappers, trim and moons.
Or HG/HT caps...
Because the flapper was ripped during the process, to compensate I was given 4 brand new tyres. I was going to get new proper whitewall tyres but can't really justify that now

Hmmmmm

Geez, 4 new tyres to replace a flapper  .

I can't justify the cost of thick whitewalls either. Just my opinion, but that's a classy looking car, and bullets on stock looking rims will give it a whole different look.

Agree with you there Cal about the bullets - I think I might just run some caps and trims - que post in parts wanted for hubcaps to fit HT centres!

And as for the 4 new tyres - all I can say is Wal from Neale Wheels is a really good bloke! It wasn't his actual fault about the flapper - it was his young offsider. But he compensated well. Also he knows his stuff and I can highly recommend him when it comes to wheels. We did have some minor issues with making them but in the end the product is quality.

I'm a bit ambivalent on the wheels Stu... they look good but I don't know if they are that much of an improvement over the ones you had on it. Was it for less revs on the highway? Anyway, it'll be good to see what it looks like with some caps.

Yes I agree Andrew (appreciate your honesy) there isn't a great deal of difference. I probably could have picked up a set of mags for cheaper.
But I wanted the freedom of being able to change caps, trims etc whenever I wanted.

I definitely want better revs on the highway as I take the car on the highway fairly regularly. And it screams it's head off.
I didn't want to go too far from the look I had previously anyway - I do have some 15" 57 caps - which sort of pushed me toward going 15's. Now I am shying away from the caps as I am not too sure I like them on the car at the moment. I change my mind all the time!!
I will probably go moons - then change my mind again!!

To white wall or to not white wall?
That's the question

Photos are a tad poor quality

But none the less I have my 15's and I'm happy, just wondering whether to put flappers on or not
Thoughts?

I would say yes to whitewalls
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Looking like a great fit, I like the thin band white walls (because they don't cost too much) but not a big fan of the flappers.
But saying that, if your tyres are fairly new I wouldn't buy new white walls, go the flappers. Confused  .

Yep confoozed Trev :D - I had those thin blue whites but...
They're new tyres so can't really justify another set at this stage
Blacky I've got some 15" flappers I think I might just put them on

I have to admit I'm happy with the 15" wheels in general
The car doesn't seem to scream as much on the highway - can cruise easily at 120 easily
That's K's not miles!

And Mick yep I agree. The moons suit for sure. Way better and simpler than my previous thoughts

Cheers guys

Looking good Stu. As for whitewalls.... with or without them it looks good so you can't go wrong.
