It's 53% and 21.4C by the Kestrel. Steve says don't clean the acryl prime, and also the protec 458 may be ok but may come up with an edge.

Another two coats on and two more to go. So far I will have used 8 litres of primer plus six litres of thinner. Add the Epotec and I'm up to 20 litres. St least 7 of those will have evaporated I suppose, and I've probably sanded off 3 litres. So about 10kg heavier by now.Image

At least all the cracks in your garage floor will be full !!!!!

I made the same mistake with base coat after I sanded a run. It just made it flare up, worst of all I didn't see it till after the clear went down GRRRRRR.

Progress is good clay ! One of the American car show on Foxtel had a body worker quote " This process can take months not hours " !!!!!!!!

Thanks Greg. I only got three good coats on before the paint ran out. I’ve got a few days to give it a light rub. Can touch up with the aerosol. Topcoat weather on Monday.

Are you going to mask off for the top coat or cbf?

I'd say the latter p. Inside guards and underneath already paintbrush matte black with primer overspray. I'll mask up when I spray dash and firewall in one over the blue.ImageImage

You must be pretty happy with this, Clay - the build is starting to take shape.... can't wait for colour, but don't rush into it - you may have regrets.

Rosco

Looking great Clay - It's such a nice feeling to start to see those lines taking shape again - all that hard work will pay off

Good stuff mate, you’re showing a heap of patience there and it’s paying off.
Cheers, John

Whilst the ladies were out Easter egg hunting I sanded the roof. Body mostly done today. Still a couple tiny sand thrus in some of the high spots.ImageImage

All in a day's work, Clay - don't fret on those break throughs if you believe they are only cigarette paper thin.. the top coats will go a long way to fill some of the very miniscule ones... bare metal or etch - another story.

We aren't far from colour - I can see it, even if you can't yet....

Good work, me - I got virtually nothing done today.. other than put up a few long winded posts on a few different forums..
Today was Holden, slot car and r/c aeroplane forum day - almost an entire day gone to the annals of cyberspace...

(p.s. - I am about to make a start on two 1/32nd scratch built Torana's... PB's.. an LC and an LJ... give you the link to the forum if you are interested?)

Thanks Clay,
yes - these little cars become a scale "world" of their own... the build time parallels that of prototypes.
I have all necessary parts coming for the two builds... reports are coming back to a thread I have opened in the forum with much encouragement...

I might start up a thread in here - under "other cars of interest"... do you believe it appropriate?

frats,
Rosco
