I've been looking at what and how to put four air con vents into the EK dash. An under-dash fabricated panel was looking like my only option, then i found these,Chevy Air Conditioning Vents, Dash, 1955-1957 , they're smaller than the original chevy ones and no need for an under-dash fabricated panel as they fit on the curved bottom of the dash.if you go onto this site and then click on the more product info and load the pdf file it shows how to fit them.

just have to find out if i have the room (as the chevy is a touch bigger) than the EK ,I'll call an air con shop to find out for sure but it looks like it should fit and look great as well

Speedy Air Spares has similar to that for a lot less. Might be worth a look?

thanks for that, it's the chromed metal bezel that cost so much, and that's the part i need to fit the louver in.

I spent weeks on my engine bay only to have the paint blister from the heat off the extractors
Had to walk away for at least a month to get over that
Any how she is coming up nice keep up the good work
Should be back on the road again soon hey

started playing with the air con. found some pvc pipe fitting for the vents
Image
they work fine and still keep it short
Image
I'm using the Air-O-Crimp system for the air con hoses there a lot less bulky then the other brands and i can do the lot and they seam to be the cheapest
Image
the heater hoses are thicker then the air con hoses
Image
with all the ducting and hoses it's a tight fit
Image
seams like it will all fit,as i don't want to lower it anymore then i have to,I'll cut the lovers in on the weekend
Image
set the B&M linkage up it was for left hand drive but was an easy fix
Image
Image
had to cut the fuel rail pipe as it was rubbing on the power booster
Image
now it won't

the Holden Purist would love these photo's
Image

Image

had a few few days off to get the dash finished and so i could finish inside the cabin once and for all,it took a lot longer then i had planned, bogging up around the louvers and making a nice fit took a lot of time, more cutting and wielding and the working out how to strengthen up the dash as i had weakened it a fare bit,and my engineer said when it comes to dashers you have to make them the same strength.( Not weaker, Not stronger) so i think i did that alright. On Saturday i had it all masted up ready to paint and i notice a hole between the choke and wipers where i had a on/off switch, that hadn't wielded up so i put up the blankets over the plastic and paper and grind ed the hole then wheeled over the mig and started wielding, half way through and the car was in flames behind all the blankets on the drivers side and door,it happened so quick, i burned both palms of my hands (made them red) pulling out the burning plastic and paper,it was just luck that there was no damage to the car,all because i was a little lazy, i didn't want to re/mask the car (had to re/mask it anyway). today i finished painting the dash, a lot of work for four louvers, that's one job I'm glad is finished, will do photo's soon.

Good progress mate, I got in trouble with the misses for keeping my vintage air central and may have to (tail between legs) shove it up behind the glovebox like you :sourrr:

I'm looking at the wheel track on the EK, I've got 1370mm on the back, but the front is 1340mm.so my question is .do they check both front and back for track width or is it for the rear only.and If it's for both am i allowed 10mm spaces on the front as that would give me1360mm just enough
