Agree it woud be great if you cold use the HK worm shaft in the ek box. If you were to use the HK box and pitman arm you would have to use the HK idler arm to match the pitman arm. They are longer as I said but possibly not enough to negate the ratio change too much. Yo could possibly use the HK idler arm on the ek pivot pin in this case. All this was enough to make me decide I was happy with my steering as is. I drove a mates ute with rear mounted rack yhe other day and couldn't fault it. Better lock than standard, which was mainly what I was concerned about but for v8 front mounted is required and there is the rub. I wouldn't say the rack was any better than my rebuilt jobby.

For a non factory option, I have started looking at electric steering units like this

Not at a stage yet to really fully consider, but its would be a tight fit with a collapsible column. Would need to fit it to the base of the column I think. Don't know if there is enough room between the steering box and the fire wall (assuming these units can be mounted in the engine bay). Early stages - need to sort out my steering box first. Or look at rack and pinion. Or do what I do when faced with the big picture problems - go back to cutting rust out of the car. Baby steps!

I have looked at an under dash EPS unit, the column shift makes it more difficult but not impossible- there is a ute on here fitted with one . I bought a couple of them and it’s another “one day” project……..

I have a standard Torana rack in my car and it is awesome to turn whist moving but is hard standing still. When i get some time I will look at one of these electric units.

Reschs Pilsner for me.
Tuning completed. Blue mixture and 1/3 up the tube for each. Easy peasy. Running sweeter than when on WW.

I’m intrigued. Got no idea what your doing there.

Thanks Brett. Kept me entertained for 20 minutes looking at that. I’m using a similar throttle cable set up by the looks. I see the Holden manifold is water heated and you are only choking the rear carb, which should still give you idle up on all three due to rigid linkage. Tidy setup with the springs. I don’t like the way mine hang down under the carbs, sorry jugs, so may revisit this. I take it your throttle cable and lever aren’t fully set up in the photo, and you have the individual levers pulling the throttles. I’ve seen some set up to push but not sure about it. They turn the levers 180 degrees on the individual throttle shafts. Engine bay looks mint mate. Bit more exciting than the old WW.
