Original colour Wedgewood Blue Acrylic over Epotec 2pack epoxy etch prime. I promise the bog is no more than 1/4” thick Blacky, and it is on metal prepped clean steel. The Epotec will seal it up nicely.

I was thinking acrylic over 2k primers as well but was not sure they were compatible. Cheers

Key 2k with 240 grit and coat with acrylic high build primer then top coats over that Brett.

Other news to hand, I picked up my new air punch/flange tool, so will try this on the lower guard repair. It rebates the panel edge and punches 5mm spot weld holes.

Wow - wish I had one of those when I replaced the lower corner on my little Corona a long while back... made up a new sheet and rolled it to shape then Tigged it in.. ground off the outer and painted it.. still can't see where the join is.. but this tool you speak of... magic - punches weld holes too... info please.
On another note, and you know all this I'm sure.
I learned that by getting a handful of little brass plates from a scrap metal merchant (copper is good too) - you can position them under your MIG or TIg repair... it will hold the weld pool in place for a "build"...I had to learn this when I welded in the hump in my floor..... saved me a lot of "grrrrrr".
I'm now locked into this thread as well... will mention it to our newest member, Vicky (wikedsparkz)... she must know about this build - you are bringing one back from the dead....

Yes others on the forum put me on to that and I grabbed some lengths of copper strap 50x8mm at a guess from the substation construction guys st work. Used for earth grid in subs, it’s perfect for the job, and great for filling up pinholes in floors etc.

Thought you'd know.. glad to know you do...
It was a "just in case" suggestion - I had to find it myself.. twigged when I saw someone welding - and when they stopped.. and the gloved hand came out... so too, did a piece of brass... had to ask..

My next respray job will be exactly that - I'm done with acrylic primer taking years to pull down completely..
Was going to try and spray acrylic directly over 2K primer... any reason we use an acrylic primer over the 2K?... are there issues with acrylic top coat on 2K primer..?

So my paint man says acrylic top coat won’t stick to the 2k epoxy Rosco.

Thanks a bunch.... saved me a lot of grief...
Undoubtedly, I'll have a thread to post when I go back to my "Rosco's paint tips" thread.... been a long time since I was in that.
I have only had one project that I have sprayed 2 pack on... stuff frightens the daylights out of me.. but, I love the finish and love more the 2K primer.. it's great to block down and stays rock solid forever once it cures out.. which for me, has been overnight...
I will acknowledge your info and thank you for enlightening me..... 240 grit to the 2K primer, acrylic high build primer, guide coat, block back and top coat in acrylic.... looking forward to laying some paint down again on the old bus...
Thanks again for this great info,
much appreciated..
frats,
Rosco

It's our turn to get hot. Currently 41C in Adelaide. Bit hot for shed or beach. Goofing off at work trying to keep my eyes open.
