So back to work this morning and the brake booster to master cylinder measuring tool was on my desk waiting for me, went and checked Frank as soon as I got home, noted that as I was undoing the nuts holding the master to the booster that there was preload. Measured with the little tool and found that it did need adjustment, it wasn’t much but needed adjustment anyway.
Haven’t tested it yet but intend to go on the next club run to the Shannon’s show so will test it then.
Finally seems I am getting some of these sorted.
Just to piss me off though, go to start my daily (2003 V6 Monaro) when we got home, the battery was a little low so it hiccuped a little but started looked at the dash and the digital odometer/trip meter etc has stopped working $#&@.

Hi Neil,
It doesn’t take much preload for your brakes to drag, I’m looking forward to your test results.
The new car electronics are a pain that’s for sure !

Try leaving the battery disconnected for 15 minutes or so mate - see if that does any good.

Hey Greg yes I'm looking forward to getting Frank out for a drive and see if the little adjustment has made a difference and you are right modern electronics suck a fair bit one of the reasons I use the older V6.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Ascot again it has been awhile.
I did disconnect the battery on Sunday Blacky and it didn't seem to make any difference the illumination was there but no numbers etc but you wouldn't believe it but bugger me I'm driving to work this morning in the rain and just before I got to the office it has started working with the correct Odo and all WTF

Well I've driven Frank a couple of times now after doing the Brake Booster thingy thanks to Greg and they are much better I can actually feel the brake pedal drop now when the vacuum pump starts to run and the pedal has a softer feel and I also think the discs are looking smoother
before they had a rough looking surface I assume this was from them dragging any dirt etc that was always between the pads and rotor, anyway that seems solved for now.
Next
the vacuum pump seems to run constantly so I the systems musn't be airtight I'll have to get the soapy water out and see if I can track it.
Onward and upward

Is the vacuum pump/brakes totally separate from the inlet manifold vacuum, or supplementing it?
Cheers,
Harv

Not connected to the manifold mate

One less source of leaks, but makes it harder to test. Vacuum leaks don't bubble up with soapy water, but the engine revs pick up when tested with ether... if its connected to manifold.

Yeah understand Harv at least with some fluid around the connections I’m hoping I can see it getting sucked in maybe.

Hi Neil, don't suppose that the new adjustment may have the booster actioned continuously?
I had this issue with mine. Brett

Hi Brett I don’t think so I’m pretty sure it was doing it before.
