That would be the ex Al Hanley built FB wagon. Paul from Smooth customs made some doors for that particular car from memory. Any how its new owner came up to me several years ago in Ipswich at a car show. I cant recall his name now but the guy and his missus were loving it and came from the general Ipswich area - which is where it most likely still is.

UPDATE: 3/6/10

With most of the rust repaired and the C pillar stable, the roof was lowered into the new position (4 inches lower than stock). The pic shows it roughly in place, the rear is sitting high and you can see how the roof has a factory dip in the front.


I've started to work it into postion and overlapped the panel to see how much willneed to be cut trimmed. At this stage it looks like no trimming required up front and maybe 1/2" at the rear.

this shows the gap that now needs to be bridged by massaging the roof and rail closer to each other.


I cut little tabs every foot along the rail so I could hold the roof in position while recontouring the sides. At this stage the roof profile is pretty much std and only the side are bent in to meet the roof.

I will need to screw the roof to the tabs just to hold it steady I think. I may get fancy and buy some Cleco's for this... an extra pair of hands would be handy at times as I move the roof in one spot and it pops out at another... it's a BIG panel.



While fitting the stainless trim for a look, I noticed something odd.
Marks roof has trim clips here...


but the 2nd roof has them here? I'm betting Marks roof has them in the wrong spot as it does not meet up with the rear rain gutter... can somebody clarify what is correct??

I had a panic thinking I've cut in the wrong spot!!!

Hi Ed,

Do you mean wrong position in terms of height or distance apart? Maybe the original roofline was missing the clip in the first place?

I meant in height.

the clips on Marks wagon sit almost directly above the window.

your clips sit inline with the gutter rail on the rear, just like the clips on the 2nd roof cut.

that clears it up.. Mark's wagon must have looked peculiar with the trim sitting so low.
