You have to run the later centres, HD HR or Torana/ROH (these require the later wheel nuts with steeper taper. Don’t mix and match as the offsets vary between models. With these rims hub caps will stick out further giving less of a dish appearance. Easily overcome by running wider rims, six inch all around or sevens on the rear. Just need a stock 4 1/2” rim for a spare if you want to fit it in the spare wheel well. Five inch Torana rim may fit with a skinny tyre. Best to make sure they all use the same taper wheel nut.

Well done. Got all the bits? You want the draglink and pitman arm if sticking with worm and sector steering box. Rotors, calipers and backing plates, pins, anti rattle springs hose brackets?

Yes I think so Clay. Had previously bought whole HR draglink assembly including pitman arm but this comes with that setup. Brakes are complete and working so I think all ok. Only thing I know I'll have to do is move engine mounts a bit - they are very forward. Comes with extra brackets to mount engine back but probably cut off and move. Pick up Saturday. That's pretty much the necessary bits now for red motor conv. Tail shaft length will need to be sorted too. The powerglide one that was with the ute is short and wrong yoke for 4 speed. Big dilemma now as was going to put reco grey motor and box in this one and do the fancy stuff in Project 2: but think I'll go straight to red now on this new ute now.

Original HR position is well forward yes. They should end up right at the back but dummy got and tack in place is best. As Neil says zyou can get blanks from Mr Mallaby on FC site.

If it is straight out of a HR you replace the front outrigger with an FB EK one, or you can mod the hr outrigger.

More questions: 186 currently has auto so need to convert for my M20 4speed. Do I need a 186 engine flywheel or will any red motor one do?

Any Red six flywheel Brett. Or blue but they are lighter due to the fully counterbalanced crank.
