I actually pulled the engine down and found the heads were ported to much and water is leaking into the valley
Just another in a list of many things that have had to be fixed replaced on the old girl
Sometimes I feel like putting a match to it but hey that's what you get when you buy sight unseen
Then again that's cars :(  :?:    :D

Hey Searsy,
I'm not sure that porting will cause water leaks unless the heads are cracked ? If the heads are milled/faced to much (usually to gain compression) then the ports sit lower and that can cause the manifold to sit high and not seal right. Normally you have to machine the manifold to make it sit lower in the valley to match the heads. Also sealing around the water jackets with silicon is needed. Mate its all a matter of measurement and can catch a lot of people out

Anyway your work is coming along nicely.

Regards Greg

Thanks Greg there is a brazed area in the head near one of the ports and water jackets
I can get this repaired and the heads recoed for $550 or I can get some pro comp heads for $750
The way I am leaning is the smaller pro comp heads and a hydraulic cam as I have never been a fan of solid cams on a daily
I have also replaced the stall from 4500 to a 2500 job
Just would like to make it a more streetable car
Have you had any experience with pro comp gear
