Sorry maybe I'm missing something - is the hole much bigger than original? if yes then yes it needs to be closed in more but water getting into the plenum chamber should just drain away so making that fully water proofed is key for sure or yes feet will get wet.

Thanks everyone. Normal antenna base size hole in cover and same size directly below in plenum panel. Imagine the installer would have used a hole saw from the top. There is about 7mm separation between the two panels near the window. The main problem is where the lower panel dips to form the drain channel. The aerial mount isn't designed to cope with this and the large gap will be difficult to seal. I could possibly fill the lower hole and mount aerial to top panel if there is enough gap. I actually like the look. Otherwise I'll just fill it all in and mount on the guard. That is where I've had them before and never been a problem. Possibly even go hidden antenna to save holeing guard I don't know ffs.

Think I would fill the hole with the panel screwed down to help prevent distortion.

Thats how mine is Clay as the aerial base has to come into the cabin for connection - Mine hadn't leaked in it's 50 years so if you re-installed with a bit of mastic I couldn't see any issues - put it in the guard you still need come through the firewall - If I get a chance I'll pull mine apart and take some pics how it's fitted if that would help?

I had a look at mine yesterday - without pulling it apart there seam to be a spacer of some kind between the cowl and the plenum chamber which would add to the seal but looks like you've moved on
