I need to order the weather strip from Rares so it in here when I finish with power window set up.
Can you confirm that you glued these in place ?

I need to have the hard lid pop up when I unlatch it but do not want a coil spring in the back corners.
Think out aloud, maybe straight spring strip near the strut mounting point ???
Needs only to lift enough to get my fat fingers under at the back.

I was just unloading some liquid rations from my 200 series landcruiser I had a look at the tailgate hinges and maybe you can make them fit a FB/EK tailgate seeing how you worked magic with the other's

This is the assistance and support that keeps project alive. I'm very appreciative of the feedback, if only to challenge the direction I'm taking.

Hi Mate yes I glued them photo of the 3M product for you. Are you using gas struts with your hard cover mate that would help lift it when you unlatch it, have a look at the FE one again on the FE/FC Forum mate JB's it may help.

Thanks Neil for confirming and showing me the glue to use.
I'm visiting the manufacturer of the weather strip need week so this should be sorted shortly.
Heading out the shed to tackle the glass channels for single glass.

I revisited the FE-FC forum to see what JB did on his ute. A couple of coils in the back corners work but not neat or tidy.
I will be using gas struts to assist and hold up the lid so will review after installing.

I dropped in to a couple of wrecker today, inquiring about the Cruiser hinges and was quoted at $120 a pair.
Way too much for something that will be going to scrap with the body. New ones via Toyota are over $200 so I will build them.

A little progress on the BMW cup holders today as I was able to separate the inner holder from the outer body, without breaking anything.
I will post photos as I go.

Thanks for the lead Keith on the EH ute build.
There are some interesting stuff done to the ute. All ideas to consider when customizing.
I like the flat lid with added stiffening braces and what appears to be a drip rail on the inside of the tub.

I saved a number of the photos of the hinges, to use as a guide.

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have been working a number of project’s for Ammo's ute.
Firstly, the weather strip for the single piece glass doors.
I visited the manufacturer Rubber Seal Australia, here in Adelaide to purchase a couple of metres of the suggested profile but it has a black flocking on the outer side.
I rechecked the photo of Neil’s Frankenstein ute it appears to be rubber only.
I was shown a number of profiles and I think I have this sorted. Just need confirmation on the attachment clips and I will place the order.

I had the bonnet hinges zinc plated as I could not justify the cost to chrome plate. I used an long time plater here in Adelaide so I thought all good until I when to pickup. Hinges look good but 1 outer spring broken and the other missing. Thanks to Retro Richard donated a couple of replacement springs. I’m stretching the spring to get the plating on all of the coils.
replacements I think I have sorted the springs to fit the hard lid. I’m looking into door poppers that are used when door handles are shaved. These will be added near where to centre bar goes and lift the lid about 25 mm at that point.
Lots to choose from biggest issue is the cost of postage from the US. I have located a supplier in Melbourne that I will ring tomorrow.
Just hope he has them in stock. The BMW in dash cup holder progressing but on hold now to let me consider the final position. I do not want to cut the dash and then change my mind. What started as a neat idea has developed in more.

Started on the under-seat storage and will require minor reduction of hump in the floor is needed to accommodate the required drawer.
Using a 300 mm soft drawer closer so smooth running. Home this week so plenty to do.

Popper ordered and paid for today so should be here next week as only coming from Melbourne.

A lot of cardboard cutting today on the under seat drawer as the the tunnel I put in way back is a little on the big size.
Now have a cardboard and masking tape sample that I will now make in metal.
Totally love the challenge designing and making this stuff.

I had the same problem with the springs Roger - the anodising/zinking weakens them badly so I'd consider not doing them that way and just paint them instead as it will keep happening.

I ended up getting some new springs made at wheelman springs - they now have a very good spring that can be used as a single spring to replace the dual springs.
