seatbelts suck, BUT when my kids were little i jumped on the brakes shooting one of my kids off her seat
luckilly unhurt
so if yor carrying kids i'de say not a bad idea
adults well can make there own mind up
another tip don't know about SA but NSW if there is seatbelts in the rear only (if yor thinking of that) all seatbelted seats are to be used by passengers before unseatbelted seats

I believe NSW rule is if the car rego has run out and lapsed over the three month period , It becomes a fresh rego and its compulsory to fit seat belts.
If its modified in any way (possibly engineers report only)- seat belts.
If it is just a yearly rego renewal no seatbelts unless already fitted.
So dont ever let your rego expire if you want to keep it original.
This is what I believed from a few years ago , To update your knowledge look on the rta site.

Easily distracted angle manipulator extrordinaire.
In NSW, you dont have to have seatbelts fitted if the car was built before 1967 (when seatbelts became ADR Comp in NSW) and if the the car hasnt had seatbelts fitted at any time since.
So basically, if someone has bored the holes in the B piller for the top attachment, you cant just remove the belts and say it doesnt have any.
If its never had belts fitted, you dont legally have to have them. I am an authorised restraint fitter through my work, and did a refresher course in 2008. If the laws been changed since then, I havent heard about it.
My EH had belts fitted to the front, but not in the back, and I was very hesitant to have anyone ride in it until it did. MY FJ and EJ dont have belts, are dead stock, and im undecided about fitting them. The kids will not be allowed to ride in it until they are, and I get a little nervous driving without a belt. (the belt will only hold you in place while the non collapsable steering coloum passes into your upper torso - stops the passanger getting cut in half by the open glovebox lid though)

either that or stick a heap of foam to the dash like in that car insurance ad

'The best engine in the world is a vagina. It can be started with only one finger. It is self-lubricating. It takes any size piston. And it changes it's own oil every four weeks. It is a pity that the management system is so f*$king temperamental.'
just hate them prolly cause i grew up without them can't i have an opinionTrev wrote:Yeh, pesky darn things that save you liferatbox wrote:seatbelts suck,![]()

I don't know why you think that, Trev
.

I cant understand people who wont wear seatbelts , for every one story like yours Ratbox theres hundreds of storys that tell exactly the opposite , several have died from piddly accidents that they would have walked away from if they were wearing seatbelts.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

how do you know that
these are only educated guesses, plenty of people still die in shitty smashes in cars with all the saftey gear
just cause I have an opinion that I don't like them doesn't mean I'M telling everybody else not to wear or not like them
if everybody would like to make note of the posative comment i made in my first post about fitting them
rather than trying to have ANOTHER go at me for the negative that is my opinion and my opinion only that I don't like them

seatbelts
Wow
well not that i intended to start a major debate on it - was just after some opinions...which I got...so thanks...I think
Anyway I will probably install at the back and not the front...now I just need to find out where to get them from. I dont really want the traditional black seatbelts, I was thinking of some lap sashes - does anyone know how to install them....may I will just take the car to someone to have them professionally installed. Once again guys thanks - nothing like a robust conversation to brighten the day
