i say that to the cook every week more effort than its worth i get the same response "you know what to do if you dont like it!!!!"
I'm only stating the the standard menu at the drive in cafe, mind youi think it would be cheaper to go for a decent feed elsewhere

aarrgghhh!
they were the days - a queue running in three directions, exorbitant prices, illuminated slides of food which simply just didn't exist in the trays behind the glass..... people "dressed" in lounge-room attire - kids in PJ's and dressing gowns.....

Ads on the "silver screen" depicting food, food, glorious food - and scenes which made your throat parched just to watch - how could we resist the "interval" break to the "restaurant"........ not many of us weaklings did......

And for those who's hunger and thirst had tempted the "punter" to take the "hike"...... it's a good thing our interior lights couldn't reveal what lay hidden beneath the packaging......

Not to mention the brainless array of slides for crash repairers, tow trucks and just about every conceivable company we desperately tried to avoid in our beloved jalopies.......

With the fitting of FM radio's to vehicles - and the ability to "tune" into the movie using your radio...... the absolute "splendour" of a scratchy window mounted grey metallic speaker on the rear door window was never the same again......

Gone were the days when you'd hear "crash" as yet another window shattered when the couple "with steamed up windows" made a "dash" to get home in time for curfew........

Gone too - the flashing of headlights at an appropriate moment during the movie...... or the honking of horns if you couldn't get to your headlight switch quick enough....... those "yuppies" with their column stalk mounted headlights....... missed all the sponteneity of a "seasoned" drive-in enthusiast......

And the confrontation from a bloke parked behind you as, in your attempts to get "comfortable" with your date..... you inadvertently kept stumbling on the brake pedal......

Yes folk - they surely were great times to be gaining "experience" in your vehicle.....

Gone forever, I say..... thank goodness there are still some venues who should be supported......

Life in front of your DVD player (gosh - sorry...... "blue-ray")... just doesn't "cut" it...... does it.....?

What have we done.... we've become a society of softies...... wimps even.....

Get out there and enjoy the splendours of drive-in movie theatres..... rain, hail and "restaurant" food.......

What more could tempt a woman's heart .........
It surely must have worked back then...... I am led to believe not only did drive-in movie proprietors take a nose dive..... so too - did the rate of teen pregnancies.........

I ask you - have we "lost" the moment.........?

frats,
Rosco

Have to see how we pull up from the night before. For those interested Area 7 are playing the Gershwin Room at the Espy and playing for free out in the front bar a new band called Doubleblack (featuring ex fireballs guitarist Matt Black and ex 327's, Flying Saucers, Slick Crusty and his Salty Racers Double Bass player Jason Skewes) and also a new band for the old guitarist from the Flying Saucers! Should be a good one.

LYNCHPIN wrote:To the women of the forum, can you explain this for me.........I say to my wife that this event is on on her birthday. She says she doesn't want to celebrate her birthday this year, i say great, we can go to the drive in, then she cracks it cause i agreed not to celebrate her birthday????

I say what i mean and that's that. Need to be a mind reader.

Cheers Paul
Wifey probably just wanted you to organise a nice dinner out (maybe just the two of you) as a surprise. That's my guess.
