EK morphs into pillarless Coupe .
Hey Harko
I'm no good with the photoshop stuff so will leave it to the gurus, but...personally I really like the Buick flash. To my eyes, it is visually far more striking than the original FB one you posted, mainly due to it's "swooping" design. Yes, it's instantly recognisable, but then, most mods of this nature (flash/trim etc) and size will be picked up by those who know cars. I don't think that's a bad thing. I think the only 'negative' would be that the FB flash ties the car to an Australian identity, while the Buick does not. To me that's a non-issue but may be to others.
All I would add to the discussion are the following thoughts:
* If you were to paint the roof in the flash colour as well, I'd lose the colour on the rear quarter flash...otherwise I think there's just a little too much colour contrast in there (gets a bit busy). If you left roof in main body colour, then certainly use the second colour on both lower flash areas.
* I'd make sure the front section of the trim follows and works with the contour of the car as it heads down to the bottom of the rear wheel arch. I've noticed a lot of instances where flash has been added without the lines of the car taken into account and it can end up looking awkward and out of place.
* If you took the forward flash to the very bottom of the rear wheel arch, I'd run the ensuing trim along the very edge of the dogleg without colour, and then again, follow the lines of the rear wheel arch as it curves up and over.
* If you were instead to end the forward flash up above the sill, then I think it would work better to curve back over the contour of the rear wheel arch with the flash colour as one long piece, including the dogleg rather than the two distinct areas of the previous version.
The Buick rear wheel arch/dogleg, being rounded as opposed to the slightly flattened FB/EK, lends itself to the design slightly better, so with that in mind, if it were my car (wishful thinking..hahah), I'd go with the following:
* Forward flash running from forward of front wheel arch, curving right to the very bottom of the rear wheel arch. Rear flash then runs along the very edge of the dogleg, and curves up and over to meet the 'line' of the rear quarter. Trim would end in a spear shape just forward of the tailight housing. Rear flash would be body colour...front flash and roof would be secondary/flash colour.
I'm sure whatever you go with, this car is going to look kickass...the lines are just right, the body mods themselves are subtle and sympathetic to the original shape. The colour and trim have been subject to a lot of thought. Can't wait to see what you chose.
Cheers, Scott

Thats cool scotty , I noticed you even did the carpentry work on the posts in the background Very tidy
Ive been using photoshop 5.5 but prefer arcsoft photostudio which I lost and cant seem to buy now .
Ive done a little research over night and I can buy 14 - 17 inch solid steelies but not scaled up moon caps.
So here is what is possible with air bags and larger steelies.

Best version yet...very nice.
Can you use your skills to try the last version I posted in my recent thread (the one where I described my 'ideal')...would be keen to see what it looks like. That'd be the one I described with white roof and forward flash, stainless trim dropping right to very bottom of rear wheel arch and then following the dog leg up and over with rear quarter all in main body colour.
I'm gonna have to learn these photoshop techniques you guys use...

NICE!!! I feel bad when I do these 'quick' artworks and ..without thinking.. give the owner an idea that'll end up cost him/her BIG BUCK$!!!Harko wrote:

Hmmm Ive been told then
Now thats sorted ,Theres two other design areas to deal with .
The grille , I like this so far - thanks Woodie You still around ?
So I guess Ill go and learn how to make a mold
And the Tail lights , Id like to use the stock housing but mount the lens about an inch deeper in the hole , maybe the honeycomb lenses finishing flush with the surround .
and the new stainless trim on the fin could join the tail light housing with a packard style curved peice that has a stainless centre line and lens either side for reverse and indicator .
Or maybe a small indicator sitting on top of the housing then the joining blinker above that ...
Anyone care to have a go at these.
By the way today the porta power was on the loose and I pumped the rear of the guards to square them up to the wheels (above photo)
Reshaped the fins to match the chevy trim , and finished off the glove box lid , was great to get back in the shed
