Dunstan had all sorts of problems with those heads from them cracking and overheating to the bottom ends not taking the extra revs. The engines were capable of more than 8000rpm.
He didnt live long enough to get them developed properly. Sadly once he died so did his head.
If that is the head Im thinking it is it lived in Penrith up until recently. The guy bought it from a brisbane speedway related deceased estate.

Bootlegger, I know the current owner's name but don't want to post it on a public forum...
8000 RPM from a Dunstan ... wonder if Dunstan himself died from blowing one up at those revs...
My favourite is the Waggott head... looks like it's out of a fifties Ferrari or something... Jack Myers' Cooper Holden has one of these (I drooled all over it when I visited the Birdwood Museum in South Oz last September)...
I really, really want to buy (or borrow) one of those Norman water injection pumps. Would be willing to pay cash, or swap for go-fast gear. I only know of one working (Lindsay's spare one).
According to legend, the rotating assembly is pressure balanced. At low inlet temp, the (separate) thermostatic valve shuts on the water line, and the pump dead-heads. The whole rotor assembly is forced backwards, disengaging the pump. I really want to see the guts of one of these things.
Cheers,
Harv
