Have you ever seen the amount of paperwork and bullshit you have to fill out to adopt a gearbox??

Really makes you want to adapt one instead!!

Hi Guys, The Nationals Committee will be meeting on Thursday night.

I will ask for clarification around some of the questions raised then.

The Nats has run for twenty years without major issue with classes. I am sure this wont be the case this coming Nats

Cars will be scrutinized for category on entry.

My 2 cents - not too stir up shit or anything .......

I dont feel the categories reflect whats out there and is "In touch with the times". May have been suited for the 1980's .... but whats the difference between having a grey motor and triple carbs , vs a red motor ? There all old in-line 6s.

It would be good to throw a customised category into the mix which represents major body appearences (like Sunny, Mez, Mick J etc). These are a class of their own.

Original, Modified 6, Modified 8 and Customized in my opinion.

As the model becomes even more popular in the future you could even branch further (pro-stock, old customs (like sports atm without the engine regs) and retro (late model injection etc).

It's all very well to add categories ( I did try to add "Modified V8 at Bendigo but got poo pooed) but someone has to pay for all the extra trophies!

I think the difference between a grey and red in line 6 is that these cars came out with one and not the other

i'm with you terry

STOCK: only what the car came with and factory otions, not even sure about flash kits as has been said they weren't actually factory fitted
PERIOD MODIFIED: ANYTHING that would have been done say pre 1970 with the exception of red six and V8 conversions
MODIFIED: could really be split in 2 V8 and 6 but as to this trev has a point, this would be evrything else

I reckon whichever way the categories or rules are modified (if they are modified at all), you will still get someone somewhere unhappy with the categories or will question why their car is in a particular category.

As Terry said, it's more a social thing and about getting together with fellow FB/EK enthusiasts.

I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over what class I'm going to be in, or whether I get a trophy (not that I have any chance

)

Mephious's idea about adding a category sounds good.

i think there should be a modifyed class 4 v8 as well as it is one of the biggest classes with a range of 6 and v8 cars being built

i can understand there is a lot of great cars also deserving of a win but you cant give every car a trophy

at our auto show we give over 60 trophies plus prizes away and we always get peolpe asking 4 new catagories to make it more even ,some we take on board at the next show

in saying that if its sponsorship for extra trophies you need to make that v8 modified class happen i would gladly sponsor the trophies for that class

We need to remember that there are over 20 years of history in the current system which is a fair achievement and not something to be fooled around with lightly.

There are more and more "trophy hunters" around these days and if winning prizes is what floats your boat then thats fair enough , but we need to remember that trophies are only a part of what the Nationals represent.

Its a fine idea to introduce some addtional special awards but leave the other main classes alone. The more little niches that are created ,the more hassles will result from trying to shoehorn people into them.
