I'm new to your forum, and looking for some help on behalf of a customer of ours who is restoring an EK Sedan.
He's had the car since he was 15 and wants to retrim it as close to original as possible. However he's unsure what the original trim design and colour is as it's been retrimmed before, but we suspect not as original. So if anyone here is able to point us in the right direction it would be much appreciated
I've had a bit of a search to see if I could find the info, so I apologise if it's already posted somewhere and I've missed it. You have some fantastic info on this forum!
Taken from the compliance plate:
EK 68S
Trim Code 672-965
Paint Code 585-0246
So the paint code tells you it's a white body? The code for TOP is 585-0246. He's had it sprayed already, and we've just reveived it, and it looks to be the same colour as the pic in your avatar, so the trim you posted is absolutely not going to match
We can still try to match the trim to the paint colour though, so at least it will look original, provided that colour is an original colour?
I can't seem to attach a photo, is there supposed to be an attachement box? or is there another way to do it?!
Check to see if there are any other paint codes on the plate, the code for Snowcrest White is the one you have posted, and it could be a single tone white car or a two tone depending on what else is on the plate, best way to get it correctly ID'd is to post a picture of the plate in the body section and we can work it all out for you.
I have 20 or so yards of the original insert material and a perfect match for the Rose Coral material as well.
I am just working on getting dies made up to RF weld the inserts so they will be as new.

Jill, that is the original trim for my car. Mine actually has different inserts, as one of the previous owners retrimmed the seats and obviously couldn't get the original inserts.
If the paint code and the top code are the same, it would tell me it's an all white car. Though I could be wrong, as I'm a relative novice in this sort of stuff as well
To add photo's you have to have a photobucket account. You then click the img icon when your posting, paste the url to the picture, then click img again.
So the top must be white, and the body x? If Insert reads 'blank', does this mean there was no insert on the seat trim? Is there a webpage where we can sight the seat trim design??
Cal, if your car is the original colour, and the one we have here is pretty similiar at least we can still try to 'match' an original interior - better than trying to make it all up.
Thanks for your input, it's appreciated
Ditto Cal's question EK Wagon! We're always trying to source original materials .. care to share lol?!!
The insert (if I'm correct) refers to the FB model which had same colour body and roof, but had an "insert" along the side of the car, like in the following picture.
Those codes you gave mean the car is the same colour/trim as my one.
The body code means the following: 225 means it's a Special, and the 12868-S means it's the 12,868th built Sydney car
We'll try and get as close as original in colour to the pic Cal posted, it's a shame no-one relpicates the pattern in the vinyl. We also followed up a contact I found here also, for the floor mats
